I’ve partially solved it. I was wondering if it was a firefox issue, as no-one else seems to have the same issue!

I therefore tried putting the press it link into IE; and discovered that it has a different appearance. As the writing window changed when I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 2 in Firefox, I assumed that though I’d not upgraded PressIT, the page that it was calling was a new one. However, I realised in IE that it was calling another page, so I deleted the PressIT button in Firefox & reinstalled.

    The situation I now have:
1: If I’m logged into WordPress, then I can write the post, and when I click Publish/ Save / etc., it reverts to the page that I’m blogging about (as it did before).

2: If I’m not logged in, then it creates a post with the // replaced with /%2 etc. If I then edit them to be as they should be, write the post & publish, I get the page not found & it’s appending the corrrupt URL to the end of the current one e.g. giving something like:

    https://www.tech.port.ac.uk/staffweb/duke-wie/blog/wp-admin/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.missouri.edu%2F%7Estricklanddg%2F4040unit1.htm
Now that I know that, it’s just going to be a case of clicking press it, logging in, closing the window (rather than anything else) & starting again.

IE also seems to have a problem if I try to pressit when logged out.

I’ve had no problems with it remembering the cookie – but, I’m using Firefox 1.5 – could that be the difference?

I’ve got the same problem. When I upload an image, I get the HTML to cut & paste, which has a \ at the start. When it’s in the blog, it therefore gets two \ in the URL – so no image.

Do I need to upgrade WordPress to stop the double \\, or can I tweak something now?
(I’m planning to upgrade to 2.0 in the New Year, so not overly keen to upgrade now, particularly for something that I can get over just by remembering to delete a \ )

    Thanks.

If you are a teacher, there is also edublogs.org and if you are a student, uniblogs.org

I’ve just read the information at https://mu.www.ads-software.com/ – where it says:

Only one blog per user is allowed, but you can have unlimited users, and you can have multiple users on a single blog.

How unlimited have people got? We want to set up something for large group of students (possibly 5,000, though, realistically, likely to be rather fewer). As I’ve used Word Press, I’m leaning towards it at present, but would like to know what sort of sizes people have got to.

If you’ve got a UK keyboard, then it’s not associated with the ~ character (which is, for us, a shifted # – just next to enter), but it is the upper left key.

I’ve just found an answer to this … if you have a look at this thread , you’ll see that there is an updated file that you can download, which will get rid of that frustration. I’ve just spent quite a bit of time, as I suspect you have, re-reading that line over and over again, wondering if I really had spelled name right etc.

Luckily for us, it wasn’t us, it was the software ??

Just found this thread, which sorted out the problem that I had – I thought I was going mad, as I couldn’t persuade it to sort alphabetically.
Also, switching from using list_cats to wp_list_cats, meant that it was far easier to read.

Just to update, on this PC, I’ve been testing the “JustBlogIt” extension for Firefox. It has exactly the same effect. So, I’m guessing that it’s something to do with whether you are/ aren’t logged in.

I’ve also checked with PressIT in IE, and the same happens.

I’ve had a similar problem. It was when I’ve used the PressIT bookmarklet in Firefox _AND_ when I wasn’t logged into WordPress at the time. It opens the login box, and then I’ve logged in. Then the spaces are 20%, and : / are also replaced. However, if I’m logged into WordPress at the time, and I don’t get the login box, but go straight to the pressit popup, then it’s fine.

I’ve also mentioned it in this thread

I had a similar problem. It kept getting so far, and then timing out. Finally it did it. I’d say just keep trying – you’ll get there eventually.

I tend to get it minimised, but that’s not my main problem at the moment … I have Firefox 1.0 (Networked, so can’t update to 1.0.2), and if I’m already logged in, then it’s fine. However, if I’m not, and it then has to bring up the login screen, the spaces in the title, and the text, are all replaced by 20, : by 3f etc., E.g, trying to Press IT for this page:
    <a href="http3A2F2Fwww.ads-software.com2Fsupport2Ftopic.php3Fid3D10915">Press20It20error20in20Firefox20C2AB20WordPress20Support</a>

(Sorry that line ended up long, and has gone off the side)

    Any ideas?

If I’m logged into WordPress it’s fine.

I see that there is now the option to get a new password for this board sent, if you can’t remember it.

    Thanks

Has someone got a site that’s got it activated and/ or what happens if you are visually impaired & can’t see the images? Is there the option to comment some other way?
(Some sites that I’ve seen have alternative ways of authorising – I assume that they get manually checked or something), others don’t, so if you can’t see …

I didn’t explain very well … I meant the password for this discussion board. That’s the one that I can’t remember (or couldn’t till I found the email) The one for the let me change it, so I could set a complex one that I can remember!
