I feel silly for leaving that in! I thought I had copy-pasted that shortcode so I didn’t look at it too closely, but that was of course why the weird nonexistent resource "arrows=yes"
was being looked for.
In addition, none of my efforts at debugging in-browser were fruitful because in my lengthy styles sheet, I had the .home .entry-content
container set to display: none;
… Which I’d forgotten. And of course the arrows are contained by that.
Arrows are now visible. So your reply solved my problem! Thanks.
