Also for anyone having the same issue log in to your file manager.
most online file managers have a way to restore files. so follow the address in the message to the folder, and restore the original file that was there before you updated the plug-in.
This will restore your website.

hi, when updating all of my plug-in I received this message immediately following the update: “Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/content/88/10921688/html/wp-content/plugins/gp-back-to-top/gp-back-to-top.php on line 59”

I’m not an IT person, but I am in charge of the up keep of our company website. I’m appalled that our entire site is down because of this one plug-in, and I’d appreciate an immediate fix to this problem, especially if you expect this plug-in to remain on wordpress.

sorry can you say what you are suggesting in plain english. I don’t understand. Just so you understand further, even wp-adim for the site has disappeared… is there a way to do what your saying by logging into wordpress.com?
