Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Dashboard not UpdatingI did. Changing the theme doesn’t really fix either problem as I still can’t upload new image files. Some plugins were working in my old theme, but updating the theme eliminates sections of the page where the plugins were located such as the sidebar.
I thought it may have been an issue with the version of WP that I’m using, but when I go to update, all it does is redirect me to a page that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” above a link that says “Please try again”. Selecting the link does nothing.
There are several features that just aren’t working when I select them on the dashboard such as trying to run a backup, updating wordpress, uploading images, ect. It seems like a lot of functionality is failing all at once.
Would it be helpful to uninstall and reinstall WP? If so, how would I go about doing that? Is there a way I can reinstall without losing content information (comments, posts, web stats, custom css themes, ect)?

In reply to: Plugins Unable to UpdateI tried multiple times to change the settings to 777 and see if the uploads work on the blog. They don’t. I’ve changed it back. Can anyone provide further assistance?

In reply to: Plugins Unable to UpdateAnd by that, I mean that under wp-content I individually changed each of the files (eg uploads, themes, index etc) to 777 and then tried to see if my website worked.

In reply to: Plugins Unable to UpdateIs there a way to do the whole directory at once? I did each individually and then tried to update my website. Nothing changed, so I reverted to what the values were previously

In reply to: Plugins Unable to UpdateWhat files do you suggest I change to 777? (I’m sorry, I’m quite a novice with all of this). Do I change index.php and install.php or uploads/themes/plugins or all? Right now, index.php and install.php are at 644 and uploads, themes, plugins and upgrade are at 755

In reply to: WordPress Dashboard Features Not RespondingI checked my file permissions and everything is set to at least 764 or 755. The issue is still persisting and I’m not sure what else to do.
