In reply to: [Media Sync] http error 500Hi @ervarons, if you were using option to limit scan to a specific directory, could you please try downgrading to version 1.4.1 ?
It can be found here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/media-sync/advanced/#:~:text=and%20educational%20purposes.-,previous%20versions,-Previous%20versions%20of
But if this continues to be an issue, I might have to bring that option back.
Please let me know if that helped.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Import other file formatsThat’s strange because I tested it with many special characters in both directory and file names. But I didn’t try Greek ones ??
Could you just share a few of those characters here? For both directory and that title (from file name I guess), so I can try it out when I find some time.
In the meantime, you could try checking if your database collation supports those special characters.
Thank you for detailed explanations.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Import other file formatsHello @moultrex, yes, it should work. Did you get any errors while importing? Errors for individual files should appear right under file name in scanned list.

In reply to: [Media Sync] The attachment ID (`wp_posts` table) not been received:Hi @thedigitalzone, thank you for a detailed explanation. First of all, that error happens when this WordPress function fails to return the ID of a new attachment (Media Library item): https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/functions/wp_insert_attachment/
But I just realized I didn’t tell it to throw an error explaining why it failed. So I made a small change and if you now delete the plugin and download it again (because it’s the same 1.4.3 version but code is slightly different) – you should see a more detailed error: “Error inserting attachment (wp_posts
table) for file…” + reason why that WordPress function failed. And this should hopefully give us more clues. Please let me know if I you are able to get this new error. Also, these are the things that shouldn’t be an issue (in my experience, but I might be wrong):
- Length of the path (file or folder) – it doesn’t seem too long,
- Levels of folders – I’ve tested it with many levels,
- Numbers, underscores, etc. – I’ve tested it with all special characters I could think of and it will work if your database supports saving special characters,
- File weight/size – shouldn’t matter, especially for videos which don’t need thumbnails or other resizing done by WordPress.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Latest update is much slowerYes, sorry about that slowdown, I had to fix paths on Windows server and that option was making it more complicated and I wasn’t even sure how important it is.
But yeah, I’m happy to hear you like the pro version. Thanks!

In reply to: [Media Sync] Unresponsive websiteThere is now a new version (1.4.3) where the plugin is loaded only on the admin side. This was already the case in the pro version, and it should have been the case here as well. If there is any remaining performance issue, I’d be happy to address it provided I get more details.
Anyway, thank you for your feedback.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Error 404Sorry to hear that @saibotknif but the question is – how can I replicate this?
If someone can share these problematic hosting providers (their firewalls probably) and how everything is configured, I’d be happy to give it a try in fixing it.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Directory files not showing in Media LibraryUnfortunately, there isn’t a way with this plugin. Since you can’t import files that are already imported and there is no “undo” option, at least not in the UI. So you could revert the database to the time before the import and do it again. But of course, this would revert everything else you worked on since then.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Directory files not showing in Media LibraryHello @flintstoned, it could depend on the date option it was selected. If “Default” was used, then all files would have current date. There is also “Smart file time” which would use year and month based on the folder in which files are located. But it’s all better explained in the UI.
Hope it helps.

In reply to: [Media Sync] White Screen on Scan FilesHi @way245, sorry for the delay. But without some specific error, it’s hard to guess what it might be.

In reply to: [Media Sync] Error 404Thank you for the details. Well, maybe you can get in touch with them and tell them to whitelist requests to this URL: https://mediasyncplugin.com/
If that’s even the issue, I’m not sure what else it could be.
But eventually, I’d like to solve it within the plugin.
