Hi,
REMOTE_ADDR is the selection that seems to be working for me – I have 4 different sites with a different combo of plugins and themes, however all are on HostGator and are reporting the correct IP and are now blocking!!! Thank you!!! ??

Update: I see under the “Tools” tab the header information for which one fetches the IP. For me, this is “REMOTE_ADDR:” so perhaps anyone using Hostgator check that tab that Pascal created… very very helpful. I have selected that option to override and I also updated the database and it seems to be working again!

Thank you for your hard work on updating your plugin. I now see the the options on the settings to override… with the information that you know – by chance do you have a suggestion of which of the options in the drop-down (I see there are 9) to start with if I am using Hostgator?

Where is the beta version location?

Is there any updates for this issues of the same IP reporting? According to HG, this is something that needs to be fixed by the plugin author per the above reply. (I have 4 websites all reporting the same IP which is hostgator for every one)

“This is something that should warrant the publisher/author of the plugin to provide an updated version of the plugin.
We did update to a newer version of Apache to stay up to date with security for our servers. This is not just a factor on this particular plugin. I have read several security plugins are also having similar issues.

Unfortunately, we do not have a permanent fix for this issue.
Now that the publisher is well aware of the conflict dealing with their plugin, they will push out an updated version soon”

I have seen that around 02/21/19 Hostgator upgraded from EasyApache3 to EasyApache4, which is the timeframe this seemed to start for me.

I have been testing for hours because I am seeing those same IP addresses in my log files, however the IP are being shown wrong for other plugins, not just iThemes. “Redirection” and “IP by Country” also show the hosting IP, in my case Hostgator as well.

I am having similar issues and behavior, but with different plugins. I also use hostgator and have noticed the change sometime early this month.

Did you ever hear back from Hostgator regarding this?

I was going to go ahead and add the code mentioned to my config file, until I read about being able to spoof ip’s using some headers – other than REMOTE_ADDR.

By chance, is there anything that I can add or do from my end?

It seems that the security plugin is getting the correct ip reference in the logs even from today that were 404’s?
