In reply to: Any way to make some categories invisible?Addition: Front Page Cats does exist, just not at the place and links I found for it, but if you use this link: https://dev.wp-plugins.org/browser/front-page-cats/
you’ll find it. For some reason you can’t find it if you browse the normal page for the plugins: https://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/PluginDirectoryI’ve installed it now (with WP 1.5.1.1) and it works like a charm for what I want.

In reply to: Uses of Sub-Categories vs. CategoriesThat might help or not: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Template_Tags/wp_list_cats
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Category_TemplatesI’ve been using the child category to call two categories on a page I made, as it is explained here: https://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/ShowCats
However, I don’t use the parent category for anything else than making the whole thing hierarchical.

In reply to: Any way to make some categories invisible?A question, Seikilos. Can you exclude more than one category from the frontpage with that? I tried it and it didn’t quite work on the site I need it for…
The Front Page Cats plugin no longer exists at wp-plugins.org
I have found this at the codex: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/The_Loop#Exclude_Posts_From_Some_Category
but they only exclude one category and if I do something like (2,3) the loop gets broken. I wanted to exclude a page about my Team, I’m already excluding the category FAQ: I call them on separate pages, as it’s not difficult to only call one category, as can be seen here: https://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/ShowCatsI guess I should add the site I’m talking about, but it’s in German :P, https://www.zeitung-hk.de . It’s going to be the school newspaper ^^.

In reply to: Anyone Succeeding with 1.5.1?I have just updated from 1.5 to WP 1.5.1, following the advice on podz site on how to do a full backup first and get all your normal data down. Then I disabled my plugins, transferred the new files, leaving the content-folder alone, except for the classic and default themes. I did, however not use the 1.5.1 zip, but the files downloaded by hand which Matt has tagged 1.5.1 in the trac browser.
I’m still running some plugins for 1.2 by the way: Drop Case and wp-grins the original come to mind.
After doing the upgrade according to the instruction in the readme.html, and activating all the plugins again, the only changes I had to do was for some of the older plugins in some admin files (wp-grins, notably) and resaving my .htaccess Permalink structure (The themes and the fact that most plugins want to be called in those files are a godsend).
Everything else worked perfectly out of the box. I am happy ^^

In reply to: Lesson: Developing a Colour SchemeI also like this one for getting six matching web colors, unfortunately it only works in IE.

In reply to: default install gives sql/headers error on commentHmm, something similar happens to me but I use 1.3 alpha-2, and I have tried to fiddle with some Post plugins, mainly Alex Kings Last Visit. However, I uploaded original files from the installation when that only got me major errors and then implemented Recent Comments by MTDewvirus.
Like you said, you get an error and then you can still read the comment afterwards. My error looks a bit different though.

Are some of our permissions wrong? I have never touched functions.php though…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: WP Last Visit by Alex KingInterestingly enough the Recent Comments plugin by MTDewVirus works just like it’s supposed to, even if it’s not quite what I wanted, so I’ve given up on getting Last Visit to work and gone with that.

In reply to: WP Last Visit by Alex KingAdditionally,I had this before and found this thread on it https://www.ads-software.com/support/3/14914
However when I mailed my support they didn’t know how to react to this and didn’t even realize what the problem was.
I have now chmodded my wp-last-visit.php but it’s stil the same error. Is there any work around to this, or will I just have to give up if I don’t want to change providers?Forum: Fixing WordPress

Would you believe I never realised that name was supposed to make sense? Like “content” and “menu”?… Heh. I just thought it was some fancy technical acronym. Thanks for clearing that up. For some reason I now have more of a grasp of where the changes are, when I fiddle with this style in the css-file.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Struggling with Since Last VisitYup, same problem here. As I posted in the Entry to Alex’s WP 1.2 plugins (https://www.ads-software.com/support/?action=vthread&forum=10&topic=5231&page=2#post-7). Nothing I did worked, and the server host people don’t know or say what to do either.
Podz tried to help me too, but unfortunatley it still didn’t work.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Alex’s 1.2 Compatible PluginsThanks for the tip, podz ^^. I’ll try that and meantime I better change the whole thing back.
