In reply to: Where is the blog when using Static Front Page?I had the same problem at one time. I was wanting to diaply the front page with X amount of posts that would be on the front page all the time no matter what I posted after. I ended up using the adhesive plugin to tell X amount of psots to stay on the front page as a sticky and then just posted everything else.. making the new content start on the second page.
It may not have been the same result you are trying for, but it seems you got the same result from the plugin I did.. only I did not know enough about WP at the time to do more with it.

In reply to: Completely overwhelmed by the plug in list. Please help…I agree. WordPress itsself does not “need” any… its what you wanna do.

In reply to: What are tags? Are they ‘important’ or just ‘useful’?Not sure if you meant “tags” as in meta tags or tags only as ‘delicious’ or ‘technorati’ , ‘cosmos’ etc
Here’s what I found out while looking for meta tags:
https://www.aleeya.net/2005/10/11/titles-description-and-keywords/as for ‘delicious’ or ‘technorati’ tags.. it is also a way for others to get to your site from these sites, they can bookmark your site there, and it can generate added links to your site as well as be user friendly for people who are looking for sites related to yours or coming from sites related to yours.
As far as SEF – Search engine friendly, page rank, etc.. the only thing I could say there is the more traffic you have…
But it is a way to get exposure and make your site more user friendly.

In reply to: lost connection to mySQL server during queryI have had the lost connection from databas… waited about 5 minutes and it was ok again
For the header output.. you have something from a plugin that has already sent it out once (sometimes it happens when you copy a pap page from a page on the web and there is an extra space after the last ?> in the paste job on the plugin.php that you creadted.

In reply to: Advanced Poll 2.03take the info from the config sheet and place it in that file where it needs the info.. make sure the paths are right
“database name”; <– repalce “database name” with your database name
“database username”; <– repalce “user” with your database username
“database user’s password”; <– replace “pass” with your database password
“class_mysql.php”; <– not sure what that is.. I would assume it needs the path to where this file is?Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Printing posts, with commentsI never could get that to work, so I made a css sheet.. I found a few online and how to (I’m kinda new to css) but I was able to figure out I had to change it from what the variables said on there to what I had actually in my css sheet.
https://www.aleeya.net/print.css
In the header.php, I had to add this to get it to work:
(And this can be used for Non-css sites too)<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”print” href=”<?php echo get_settings(‘siteurl’); ?>/print.css” />
You are welcome to give it a try and tweak it and play and see if that will help if you would like..
That might have a few extra things you don’t need.. or you might need to add some from your style.css sheet.. but basically id you dont want a section to print, then you put none. if you do, then you fill out the attributes you want it to use.
Unline wp-print, this will NOT show an on screen display before you use it. But, when you goto File/Print preview in your web browser you can see what it will look like.

In reply to: adding 20 odd links to homepageI just used the link manager on the conrol panel for mine… the theme calls the links down the side. I would assume you could do the same. I had to put each one in by hand.. I did not import them, but that gave me a chance to add customer titles and such for each.

In reply to: 2 category in homeI am not sure how to do this by hand.. I would think it would depend on the theme and template you are using.
