put the same comand in 2 different places and excluse say 6-10 of the first menu and exclude 1-5 categories on the 2nd menu?

that is exactly what you do. you create the template you want to use. you save that as a template page in your themes directory. then, when you make a pages, you use the new theme

it *can* screw it up if you put it just anywhere… you want to replace what you already have for a category menu with the new one.

so in the deafult theme you would goto sidebar.php and relace
<?php wp_list_cats('sort_column=name&optioncount=1&hierarchical=0'); ?>

with

< ?php echo collapsing_category_menu(); ?>

for it to work

thats ie for ya.. take something wrong and tries to make it look right, takes something right and screws it all up

There was a bulk-category-manager that used to do that. I know it worked on WP 1.5 … but I dont know if it works on 2.x

There are tons of ‘<strong’ and ‘</strong’ tags in the post where it starts doing that and the post after as well… like maybe 5 ‘<strong’ tags and then 5 ‘</strong’ tags before one word. those extra tags can be deleted and that narrows down where the problem is.. you opened one but forgot to close one.

unfortunately it does take time.. a few years ago, I started playing with phpnuke (before WP) and that was how I learned php and css… there were modules and themes I wanted to customize and I had to use what I had started with to figure out what to do to make it how I wanted it. I can tweak things today, but I hate having to write stuff from scratch. I can use what I laerned by tweaking TO write it from scratch (took me years to learn, but playing like that was the best way for me.. better than any book).. the instant feedback of seeing what you do step by step to alter something is the best teacher in my opinion.

hmm maybe that person needs to clear cache or hold CTRL SHIFT down while clicking refresh to get a fresh copy from the server. I just tested in ie6 and i can see images fine

Though I have to say for me, the word *category* actually saved my site from getting all messy and I was thankful I had it.

Reason being…

I am working on moving an “Awards” category to an “Awards” Set of pages.

so.. for example, now I have my links so the category is
https://www.aleeya.net/category/awards/award name

and the pages are going in
https://www.aleeya.net/awards/award name

so, if I did not have “category” in there, you can only imagine the problems I would have with 60+ pages getting mixed up with permalinks of posts if the word “category” was not in there.

I have a couple other “categories” that I am having to do this with too.. so that *Could* get messy.

Another reason that I am glad it distinguishes the two with the name *category*.. saves me from having a HUGE mess.

then again, I always have been an oddball..
