In reply to: Photos changing colour upon upload into WPMatt, that seems to have done the trick, although strangely the newly uploaded image still appears with a colour cast in my WP media library. I tried uploading a copy of an earlier image that had the correct colour balance, and it too was wrong in the media library, whereas the original, earlier upload of that photo appears as it should do.
If I have further problems I will come back, but many thanks for your advice.

In reply to: [Black Studio TinyMCE Widget] Pasting Tables from MS WordThanks for coming back Marco.
No joy though – I copy the entire table in Word, but when I paste it over into the Tiny MCE editor the table isn’t there, just the text that was in the table, all bunched up on the left side of the page.
I am using a very old version of Word, 2003 I think. Could this possibly be the problem?

In reply to: Site VanishedBT have refused point-blank to have anything to do with wordpress and this matter, disclaiming any responsibility whatsoever. I had awful problems when I first uploaded the site, and in the end a ‘rogue’ operator at BT’s support centre did it for me – he knew WP and knew exactly what the problem was. The BT manager I just spoke to said that the adviser would have been reprimanded had he known about it at the time! So I am now stuck. I have no idea how to upload a fresh copy of WP.
If anybody can take me through it I would be hugely grateful!

In reply to: Site VanishedMorning!
I know when the problem started – overnight 19th/20th December. BT provide a choice of file backup dates which go from 5 to 611 hours ago, so no problem there.
Additionally I have a weekly wordpress database backup sent to me automatically as an e-mail packaged up in WinRAR. Following the instructions as on the link that I showed in one of my posts above to restore the wordpress backup from a fortnight ago seems to have no effect whatsoever. The site remains in its corrupted form. I suspect therefore that my wordpress database restore routine isn’t working, that I am doing something wrong.

In reply to: Site VanishedHa! BT. They want to charge me (more!!) for doing any work on this as wordpress is 3rd party!
Tell me though, why can’t I simply upload my backup database, which is presumably fine, as it predates this crash?
Esmi, I am very grateful for your help on this. I have to go now, and will work on it tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts on the backup.

In reply to: Site Vanished“Your site workes at my computer!”
The site works, but not properly. The homepage is missing all its text, sidebars are missing at random, and something has corrupted the text, as here..

In reply to: Site VanishedThe database is amongst the files I restored.
I have since reattempted to load my most recent automatic backup back to the server via php, but it makes no difference. I am following the instructions here
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup
Surely that should straighten things out. Although the sytstem tells me that the action has been successful, nothing changes. Previously I was getting the same nothing at all, now I am getting the same corrupted website.

In reply to: Site VanishedI have just used the ‘File Restore’ facility in BTs website management page. I have some of the site back, but it is heavily corrupted and missing lots of items. Many of the files failed to upload.
Here is a typical page. This is pretty heartbreaking.

In reply to: Site VanishedI don’t know. That is simply what the fellow at BT said.

In reply to: Site VanishedI have now gone through the restore database process via PHPmyadmin as found here
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup
No change. I still have no site. Beginning to get very worried.

In reply to: Site VanishedApparently there is “no coding on ‘index.php'” whatever that means. They tell me that I will have to re-upload my site. Presumably I simply need to re-upload from the backup – however, I don’t know how to do that. My backup is in the form of a compressed Win RAR file.
