I agree. This would be really helpfully as we would like to use other plugins with the special text boxes.

Ok. So I tried doing a full uninstall of WP and the databases and I tried doing Multi-Site using subfolders instead of subdomains as this doesn’t really matter to me. I followed all of the instructions, changed the .htaccess file and updates wp-config.

I then when to log out and log back in and now I get stuck on the login screen. I put in my name and password and then it spits this URL in the URL bar.

What’s going on?

After further investigation. When I go to Network Admin –> Sites:

It usually lists the sites and you can click the link on each site. Well instead it’s just forward slashes on where it should display the name of each site.

What could I possibly do to fix this?

No, I’m not running 3.5 and the plugin worked fine before with my hosting account, posting and everything. This is a problem that has just seemed to pop up recently.

I figured out a simple solution.

in the subfolder of your new WP installation, create a blank .htaccess file and set the permissions to 666.

Then reset your permalinks and whola, it’s fixed.

Thanks for the replay. I’ve been looking around the forum for the rewrites and the permalinks on multiple installations on one domain but haven’t had any luck thus yet.

Anyone know what I need to do to stop rewrites from happening on specific folders?

Just a quick update. When I change my permalinks to the default it works just fine, but there seems to be a conflict when I change my permalinks for the blog to anything else.

Well, this is an entirely new install. Same domain name, but new WP install so I have no idea why I’m getting the error.

The hosting company that I’m moving to only requires ‘localhost’.

I have the correct DB username and password as well as the DB name but I keep getting the same error.

What else could be bringing the old IP up?
