never mind: plugin: add from server seems to be the answer. im a little confused why i need to install a plugin to do this.

rather than someone pasting me some generic link, i was more after asking a question to a human, so im sorry but that link doesnt actually answer my question but thanks anyway. tags still seem completely pointless to me and dont seem to do anything useful over categories, so im wondering why they exist in the first place. is it for SEO stuff ?

well, it appears you just have to guess this stuff. doesnt seem the forums at instinct are too well populated and here is kind of the wrong place i guess. this conflicted piece of information to the previous posts seems to suggest this function just might be gone! although i never had it in the previous version either!

so im just going to ignore the highly misleading docs that talk about ‘select theme’ and put the files in my current theme. seems like its going backwards to remove this feature though (even though i never had it!)

So it seems that for some people using the theme backup in the presentation settings area is causing some hassles – The major one I have seen is old themes from the uploads directory been ported into the WordPress theme directory – If you want to backup your theme files I would recommend doing it the manual ftp way and just copying all the theme files (from wpsc-themes) into the main directory of your current (activate) WordPress theme. This will ensure that you’re running on the new themes and you can keep any styling changes you make safe because your themes have been moved. If you are making changes to your templates don’t forget to alter the ones in your currently active WordPress theme folder, not the template files inside wp-e-commerce plugin folders – these files wont be loaded if you already have files in your WordPress theme folder.

hi sorry, the edit button has gone from this post. ive just completely installed wordpress and wp-ecommerce from scratch with a new database and it still doesnt contain the themes. i recopied the themes back in to the same folders above and the same thing happens. i even uninstalled and tried to download the plugin from the original website and uploaded it just to check that and no themes there.
