    Hello,
After installing 14.9 I had problems on 2 websites on my server (iis 7.0).
I tried the normal stuff (activating/deactivating the other plugins, resetting all the Yoast-related tables using Yoast Test Helper) but the only way to make the sites work is to revert to 14.8.
    What happens?
    – sometimes pages simply don’t load, after a long time I get a 500 error without any more explanation
    – but usually I got error messages because of extremely high memory usage (only after having visited some pages and always in other includefiles or plugins)

    examples of error messages:
    – Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 1074790400 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24576 bytes) in C:\www\cetaf.dreammachine.be\wp-includes\blocks.php on line 758
    – Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 1074790400 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 36864 bytes) in C:\www\atoma2020V2.dreammachine.be\wp-content\plugins\smart-slider-3\Nextend\WordPress\OutputBuffer.php on line 160

Both sites have had problems with the wp_yoast_indexable-table that they didn’t find (an issue that I solved using Yoast Test Helper).

    Anyone any idea?
    Tx,
    Guido

  • Hi @guidoj,

Thank you for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear you are having issues.

We would like to know more details about your setup. Does your host meet the plugin requirements? More specifically, we would like to know what PHP version you’re running and if your site has enough PHP memory allocated.

Please do know that when you reset the indexables with the test helper plugin, it is expected that the plugin takes quite some resources to process the indexables again.

    Hello Jeroen/Dag Jeroen,

Here is the information you requested:
    PHP version: 7.4.9
Allocated memory (“memory limit” in phpinfo):256 M — this should be enough ??
    Mysql 5.7

I don’t think that resetting the indexes took that much time or resources, I had the impression that it was done in a couple of seconds but maybe I’m wrong…

    Tx,
    Guido

    Hi @guidoj,

Thank you for your reply and for your information.

We expect that those PHP settings should be just fine to run the plugin without any issues. However, looking back at your initial error statements, we might think it’s a combination of plugins or themes that are creating issues specific to your site/setup. The second memory error you got looks to be coming from the Smart Slider 3 plugin.

Can you confirm that all of your plugins, themes, and WordPress itself are up to date? If that’s the case, we would like to know if the issue persists if you temporarily disable the slider plugin and see if the issue persists. You can do these test on your site directly, but it might be easier to do this on a staging site.

    Hello Jeroen,
Tx for your help. I updated yoast on both websites, after deactivating the smart slider plugin. Everything worked correctly. Then I reactivated the slider plugin…. and it still worked. So I don’t know what happened, because in the meantime my configuration hasn’t changed…
    Thanks a lot!
