Thank you (a big one) for checking in on me. I’m off to try out your instructions, BabyFaceWeb (which, btw, were extremely detailed and very appreciated!). I do have a child theme in place.

I did find a plug in (Visual Website Editor) that features WYSWYG editing in a manner that allows the user to click on any section of a page and edit as needed without having to wrangle widgets and code. Playing around I was able to delete my site Title from the Blog Page then add the replacement Title as an image – voila! – only to discover that the plug in appears to run off of my screen and I cannot scroll over to where (I assume) the save button is. I tried minimal troubleshooting but cannot afford to burn hours figuring out how to make the plug in fit my screen. BOO.

Two steps forward and one step back, right?

Thank you again for the help! =)

Thank you very much for the help – I was able to downsize the banner for now to fit my screen. An associate tells me it’s still too large for their screen, but I haven’t determined why it isn’t behaving responsively yet. It’s on my to-do list! So many rabbit-trails, so little time…lol.

Yes this Font plug in was one of the first I used when I was working my way through building the site…it has been a lifesaver in some instances and a royal p-i-t-b in others. Definitely a love-hate relationship going on with it.

No surprise at all that I’ve got weird code going on under the hood. This whole thing has been trial and error for me and I can’t remember where my brain was on this 3 months’ back so there’s no telling what I might’ve thrown against a wall to see if it would stick back then. My inexperience with code has me afraid to dig around too much (or delete anything) for fear that I’ll make a catastrophic mistake. When you guys point things out I am usually able to understand what I’m looking at but on my own I’m still struggling.

Thanks for checking into it – I’ll start testing plug ins and see what happens from that angle.

As always, thank you —- you are very kind to help. =)

Sorry – that’s the image wall effect that I was stubbornly pursuing a few weeks ago. It takes the picture from each blog post and displays it with other blog photos on a single page. Click on any photo and it takes you to the corresponding blog entry.

Prior to the upgrade, when you clicked a photo, each blog would come up on its own page. Now nothing comes up except the comment area that is usually beneath the posted material. Posted material is gone.

When I go into the “posts” area in my dashboard, all of my entries appear normal – text and photos are still showing on each one. So I can’t figure out what is causing the on-site disappearing act.

Also noteworthy(?) – one of the images on my image wall became VERY large with the upgrade as well while the others stayed the same. I detached that image from the post until I could fix the problem, so it’s no longer showing up on my site.

    Thanks!

I used a plugin (Subtle Background Patterns) that enabled color, pattern, texture change, etc.

@gscohier I had to say thank you again! What a GREAT tool! This is the first time I’ve put together a site and it’s impossible to wrap your brain around everything you need to before jumping in because there’s so much that doesn’t make sense until later on in the process. Customizr being responsive was one of those things for me (I know, I sort of missed one of the best Customizr traits – I was being girly…I just liked the way it looked!). So obviously it didn’t occur to me to make sure I was using responsive-friendly plugins when I began trying out widgets (I was too busy patting myself on the back for figuring out how to use a widget! lol).

Anyway, Screenfly helped the lightbulb go off in my head with regard to this. I swapped out an image widget for a responsive image widget and immediately solved a sidebar problem that showed up. It also appears that the PlugnEdit editor (WYSIWYG) I used on two of my pages isn’t showing as responsive either, which is puzzling because it is described as responsive, so that’s my current project.

Cheers to a great suggestion! Thank you, thank you! I owe you one!

Thank you!! That’s another area I’ve gotten a little lost in – finding the best tools to test my site with. Googling suggestions takes me down a million rabbit trails. Of course, everyone advertises that theirs is the best! LOL It can be overwhelming figuring out what the best ones are.

I’m going to check out your link now – thank you! I’m wondering why I’m not seeing my slider, etc., on my iphone if Customizr is supposed to automatically resize according to screen. Hopefully I’ll figure out what I need to with this. Thanks again!

@rdellconsulting can you tell me a little more about Firebug? Is it a download to my hard drive or a plug in to my wordpress?

I’m looking for something that can help me adjust styles/formats on my individual pages in a way that will not affect all pages on my site.

I’ve been using the Font Manager Plug In to adjust things like color, size, font style, etc., but it is glitchy – sometimes it will apply a change throughout my site (when I don’t want it to) and sometimes the changes I make only show up when I hover (when I want the change to be static). I’m getting tired of unreliable and inconsistent results.

Do you think Firebug would be a solution to this problem?

Not sure if I’m the eternal optimist or a glutton for punishment, but I reloaded the ImageWall plugin for the 3rd time (lol), determined to make it work. This was the plugin I originally wanted to use – everything else (like YAPB) was a hopeful substitution.

ImageWall has you add a shortcode to your page(s) of choice (like a blog) that will pull images from throughout your site (or from just your posts, which is what I wanted). The images appear in mosaic form without text – you can click on each one and it will take you to the corresponding page/post.

I kept adding the shortcode to my blog page and nothing would happen. FINALLY had a lightbulb moment and created a new blog page, added the shortcode, then saved it to my menu. Took the old blog page off of my menu but left my settings to where posts would still route to the old blog page (which is now invisible to the viewer).

Now when you click on my Blog in the Menu, you are taken to the image wall. If you click on an image, you are taken to the post it is featured on. YAY!

The only remaining issue I’m working through is in my archives. If someone happens to click on a category, the archives pop up, and they are a mess! Double images, crazy layout. I’ve turned off all SEO to the archives for now until I figure out the housekeeping.

    =)

I had this problem too. I tried ElectricFeet’s suggestion to add it with the Add Media button but the result was double images in each post (one full size and one circle-effect). So I have been trying for about two weeks to find a way to show full sized images and turn off the default ‘featured’ effect in my posts. I like the featured effect but if I have to choose between the two then I’m going with the full image because that’s what I think a post page should display.

I ended up adding a gallery program that (by chance) stopped the default on each individual post page but my archives section is still cluttered with double images. If I come up with anything through trial and error I’ll let you know.

    Resolved! Hallelujah.

The problem was that I was trying to add the shortcode to the same “Main” blog page on my menu that my posts are routed to. Because of this, the posts were over-riding the shortcode so the plugin could not work.

I created a new “main” blog page and put the Image Wall code there. Then I added it to my menu. (Posts do not actually end up here. The only purpose it serves is to hold the Image Wall Code. When people click the Blog on my menu options, they see the Image Wall.)

I took the old “main” blog page off of my menu, but left it so that my posts would still all route there. No one can actually click directly to this page because it’s not on the menu.

When people click an image on the wall, they are taken to a new page which shows the single post associated with the image they clicked. At the bottom they can scroll left or right to read other posts if they wish.

Right now I’m still working on a double-image issue in my archives, but everything else is good to go. Just wanted to update that it’s working now! (Big smile)

Worked through it and stayed with Customizr. Thank you for the input! =)

    Marking resolved. =)

Thank you. =) In the meantime with all of the tweaking, I finally figured out how to make the elusive ‘image wall’ work on my main blog page. Now it displays as a mosaic wall of images without text. Click an image, go to the post. (ta-DAAAA!)

The newest problem is that this arrangement puts me back at square one with the double-image issue on my posts when they are viewed in the archives. LOL. There’s just no avoiding a ripple-effect, is there?

Thanks again for your help and patience. =)

So I think the double-image happened because I was adding my post images with the “add media” button which inserted them into the same area as my text. I was not using the “add featured image’ option at all. I think publishing the post defaulted that image to the ‘featured image’ as well, resulting in the double-effect. When I deleted the image I inserted with the ‘add media’ button but left it as a featured image then the blog began to show only one image per post.

Which leads to my next question: now my blog page shows three test-posts with full text showing and a photo out to the side which is encased in the hover/circle effect (translation: you cannot see the image in full). When I click on each post to see how it looks by itself the image is gone. Is this normal for the “Standard” setting on the Customizr theme? I expected the image to show up on both the Blog page and the Post page, but I could be wrong.
