In reply to: [Download Manager] Update to 2.7 is a downgrade – Lost Too Many FeaturesHi Shaon!
Just upgraded to 2.7.1, and missed the “downloaded count”. How can I enable it.
Thanks!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can't log in after changed administrative settingsUnbelievealable, it worked!
So, in the database, URLs ARE case sensitive (as in the admin settings in the dashboard, I suppose).
As a “side effect”, it already solved my original problem: “When I select link “Older posts” (in may case “Posts mais antigos ?”, because it is in portuguese), instead of getting the correct URL that should be…“.
Thanks a lot esmi, you saved my day!

In reply to: Can't log in after changed administrative settingsHi esmi, thanks for replying!
Performed steps:
1 – Edit wp-config.php
define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://pinkylotus.com.br/blog’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://pinkylotus.com.br/blog’);Tried to login. Didn’t work.
2 – Edit functions.php (while keeping changes made in step 1)
<?php
update_option(‘siteurl’,’https://pinkylotus.com.br/blog’);
update_option(‘home’,’https://pinkylotus.com.br/blog’);Tried to login. Didn’t work.
3 – Changing the URL directly in the database (while keeping changes made in steps 1 and 2)
Tried to login. Didn’t work.
Repeated step 2 – Edit functions.php (while keeping changes made in step 1)
<?php
>>> Removed lines inserted in previous step 2Tried to login. Didn’t work.
At last I have the wp-config.php without additions made in step 1, functions.php without additions made at step 2 and just the database changes made at step 3.
Tried to login. Didn’t work. The blog shows ok and so does the login page, but when I try to log in, the 404 page appears.
I can tell you that I’m really amazed. Found lots of posts dealing with this very same problem (dating from years ago) I’m facing and couln’t figure out a way to solve my problem.
Hope you can give me further advice.
Thanks again!
Fernando

In https://www.pinkylotusblog.com it doesn’t work, that’s why my question, but in https://pinkylotusteste.wordpress.com it does for me.
Please pass mouse over “O blog da PinkyLotus https://www.PinkyLotusBlog.com ainda está em constru??o.” in https://pinkylotusteste.wordpress.com
4k,
>Have you installed the snapshot plugin?
No, think that’ll do the trick.
Thank you, both fellows!

In reply to: Installing WordPress at 1and1Dear Fellows,
Contacted Michael D. Pollock (https://www.solostream.com/2007/02/25/lesson-12-download-and-install-wordpress-on-your-server/#) where I found the tutorial on how to install WordPress, and he figured out the problem after I send him the wp-config.php file.
With that file in hands he could detect the use of a faulty apostrofe.
Also, would like to express my satisfaction with 1and1 support that, little while after I send them a message about the problem, contacted me (by mail) offering their help to support me.
My mistake. If I did it *ALL* right, wouldn’t have burdened you all with my stupid problem.
Finnally got WordPress installed in my domain.
Please accept my most sincere apologies.
Fernando

In reply to: Installing WordPress at 1and1Michael,
>Can’t see a thing you are doing wrong!
Glad to hear that ??
>My next guess is that FTP is somehow corrupting your wp-config.php file.
FTPed wp-config.php back from 1and1 to my computer, openned with a text editor (notepad) and (apparently) everything was in place.
At this point, *even* if I get WordPress running at 1and1, it showed to be so cumbersome, awkward and senseless, that I’d better start thinking in moving to another host, like Root suggested.
I’ve seen some references to DreamHost (https://www.dreamhost.com). Any comments about that?
Thanks!

In reply to: Installing WordPress at 1and1Michael,
>Of course, if necessary, delete that database and start all over–maybe something got whacked with that user…
Yes, started all over again (for the third time!). Think I’m doing something very stupid, but unfortumnatelly can’t see it.
If you (or any other fellows around here) could get some time and, please, check https://www.pinkylotusblog.com/testdocs/installation.pdf
It’s the full step-by-step routine I performed with screenshots of every step, since downloading WordPress until the error message.
I thank you very much for your help.

In reply to: Installing WordPress at 1and1Hi Michael, thanks so much for replying!
> 1and1.com is a vendor that shows you all the information you need where your MySQL databases are listed.
Database settings:
Database name db209753010
Host name db1017.perfora.net
Port 3306 (default port)
User name dbo209753010
Password xxxxxxx
Description WordPress PinkyLotusBlog
Version MySQL4.0
Status ready> Please check your wp-config.php file to insure it agrees with the information shown by 1and1.
wp-config.php
define(‘DB_NAME’ , ‘db209753010’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’ , ‘dbo209753010’ ); // Your MySQL username
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘xxxxxxx’ ); // …and password
define(‘DB_HOST’ , ‘db1017.perfora.net’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value>Of course your database server could also be down…
Tried many times. There is a means to check that?
Again, thanks!

In reply to: Multiple blogs under a single WordPress installHi Dgold!
That’s fine, so I could have one copy installed under Myblog.com and another under (say) MyBlog.com/Test. Is that you’re suggesting?
