Yes, success…. I switched to the twenty fifteen theme and it was there so I switched back to the theme I was using and it is now there. This is a clients blog so sorry for the delay. Thanks for helping and the suggestion!

Great, thanks. I use my iPad to do a lot of my work so when I installed custom sidebars it had a choice to put them on category pages but since the iPad does not use a mouse I did not understand that the selection for the custom sidebars was a drop down. But now I know and have abandoned the idea of a page template. I am using the archive page to display posts from each category and custom sidebar plugin to add my sidebars. A little CSS helped my style the archive page to make it look great for my site. Thanks for the help!

Which plugin do you suggest? I’ve tried some custom sidebar plugins and they require pages created. I was referencing domain/category/oneofmycategories in the nav bar to see the posts of the categories. But I could not edit the sidebar of these pages as they were not created in the pages section of the dashboard. This is why I thought of creating a template for each category so I could change the sidebar using a plugin.

    Thanks Julien!

I took a look at what you said and took a step back at how I named the folders. I usually don’t mash my words together when naming folders, I include spaces. I know it is not good practice so I thought if I add an underscore to the name of the folder it would fix my problem. Low and behold, it did. Again, I usually don’t do that but now I guess I will have to start.

Thanks for helping me with this situation.

OK, so I adjusted the padding for the search box that dropped the ad down away from the search box but I would really like to style the ad itself. I adjusted the padding of the search box to 18px.

That was it, if you could believe it. I really need to watch my code. There was a random ) placed where it should not have been. Now it is all fixed. Thanks your your help.

I have enabled debug. Here is what I got…

Parse error: parse error, expecting `'(” in /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/igeekws.com/wp-content/themes/My Modest Child Theme/functions.php on line 3

I am hosting my own wordpress website with my own web server. That is the reason why you see the file structure like that. so it looks like I have a typo again?

So I made the changes to the functions.php file and it still crashes the website.

    Hi,

Thanks for responding. Sorry it has been a while since I last logged in. I am hosting my websites on my own server. I have configured a headless server on my network and I have all my websites hosted on that server. I cannot get any contact form plugin to work. I dont know if the issue is that I am hosting the websites on my own server or if gmail is blocking contact with my server for some reason. I am not sure where the test messages that I have conducted ended up. I have tested the email addresses Im using in the contact form 7 and they work.

    Any idea?
