In the mean time thinking about what could have led to this – I added this AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .phpto my htaccess file recently because I installed another application (wiki) as well.

When I remove that “addType” line the wordpress site works fine as usual.

This is not exactly a blockquote but it may do something similar to what you need.

It is the pullquotes plugin from viper007bond. I use it on my site and it works really well.

Well with 1 error and over 200 warnings I think you need to go through these to fix you current problem. By the way the search engines will not like your site with all these issues.

That is really simple to change. (should be <a href by the way)

Upload pic with FTP to your server. I put it some where in /wp-content/abc

Edit your theme sidebar.php and place code where you want the pic. (code something like what you find here https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_images.asp )
