In reply to: ‘blog’ in Permalink StructureOK, so I took someones advice on that thread – since my blog is for multiple personal blogs (registration not open) I felt perfectly safe to do the following
I went to Super Admin > Sites > Edit.
Scroll down to “Permalink Structure” and remove the “/blog” part. That should work.
This remedied my problem immediately.

In reply to: ‘blog’ in Permalink StructureI′ve looked and cannot find “remove /blog/ plugins”. It could be that my eyes are painted on but I have looked in the wordpress directory and nothing came up.

In reply to: Moved to new host – now unable to upgrade automaticallyThey never highlighted the issue because there wasn′t one.
It was a plugin issue I just resolved it.
I am now shame faced. Sorry Hostgator.

In reply to: Moved to new host – now unable to upgrade automaticallyIf you want to run upgrades through the wp-admin interface do not move to hostgator.
They have said they do not allow the facility to upgrade through the wp-admin interface only through fantastico. A small problem to some, but there is a delay with the fantastico release and I also beta test the current release on one of my blogs. I am used to the ease of doing this through wp-admin, I like doing it through wp-admin.
When questioned beforehand about their suitability hostgator. never once highlighted their would be a problem with any of us.
Just in case anyone else utilises custom fields to create images within a site (say a portfolio for example…) I recommend the use of plugin slimbox, worked for me
