Thank you so much for your thorough response! I have to admit, I feel a bit anxious about making changes through the backdoor. However, I decided to dust off my trusty old MacBook from 2012 and was pleased to see that my site worked perfectly on both Safari and Chrome. Inspired by that, I installed Chrome on my iPad, and guess what? Everything ran smoothly there too!

So I’ve been thinking that the issue might be with the Safari app on my iPad. Since I don’t have a strong attachment to it, I think I’ll just stick with Chrome from now on!

    Thanks again, Mick Garratt

As soon as I pressed the General option it logged me out and I struggled to get back in. “Error:?Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must?enable cookies?to use WordPress.” As far as I know cookies are enabled. Anyway eventually succeeded and both the URLs are set to:

    https://www.fhithich.uk

It worked after I was asked to give the answer to a simple addition on the WordPress login screen. Didn’t have the question before.

I confirm the ‘Block all cookies’ option is not set. Using Safari.

it’s late here in the UK so shutting down for the night now.

    Thanks again.

Yes, when I click on ‘Visit site’, ‘Add new Post’, or ‘Media’, etc. I’m directed to the Gravatar page.

I’m a bit sceptical about whether this will work, but I’ve added a screenshot of the Gravatar page which I thought I had in previous post!

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, the issue still persists. I went ahead and disabled the Jetpack feature—how did it get turned on in the first place? Just curious!

Things were going pretty smoothly for about an hour, but then things took a turn toward the frustrating side! Just when I was almost done with my post, my bookmark led me straight to the Gravatar page. I managed to access my dashboard by typing in https://www.fhithich.uk/wp-admin/, but, unfortunately, every menu option just redirected me back to Gravatar. Super frustrating! But, I finally got the hang of it and managed to finish the post using the WordPress iPad app, which I don’t usually use.

    Thanks again for your assistance!

For the last two posts it seems to have worked — the featured image is included. Before that I had to edit the Mastodon post.

Not sure what’s happened but all’s well that ends well.

    Thanks again.

Thanks, Matthias for the prompt replies. It all sounds too complicated for me, I think I’ll put it on the back-burner for now.

Mastodon Autopost actually told me to use og:image. I thought it would be easy.

    Thanks.

My host provides for two Log File Downloads: View Access Log and View Error Log.

I assume the latter is the relevant one. I ran the 6.1 upgrade routine again and immediately downloaded the logs.

The last minute of the Error Log is:

This is all pretty meaningless to me but seems to indicate something wrong on the php.ini file.

I did manage to find and have a look at this file and it is just the one line:
    <?php phpinfo(); ?>

    Any further help appreciated.

In the end, I started by copying and pasting an example from your https://skirridsystems.co.uk/wordpress-plugins/os-datahub-maps/ but somehow the last quote must have got corrupted. I can’t remember whether if at one point I cut the last quotation mark and merely added one in using the keyboard (“). Or it may have happened when I flipped between ‘visual’ and ‘text’ on the WordPress edit screen. I could experiment if you want.

On most Mac programs, there is an option ‘Emoji & symbols’ under ‘Edit’ which gives the following double quotes:

    RIGHT DOUBLE QUOTATION MARK ”
    QUOTATION MARK ”
    DOUBLE PRIME ″
    DOUBLE ACUTE ACCENT ?
HEAVY DOUBLE COMMA QUOTATION MARK ORNAMENT ?

Again I would have to experiment to decipher. But I’ve just created a crib sheet.

    Thanks again. Mick Garratt

    Yes, that’s cracked it.

Thanks, sorry to trouble you. I’m aware of the problem now.

By the way, I’m using a Mac.

    Ah, crossed in transit

    Thread Starter fhithich

    (@fhithich)

Just spotted the closing quotation marks in my shortcode are different.

The ones that don’t work are ” (decimal Unicode number = 8221)
and the one that does is ″ (decimal Unicode number = 8243)

Subtle, hadn’t realised there was a difference,

For info my keyboard gives ” (decimal Unicode number = 8220)

I haven’t tried whether this is the problem but suspect it is.

    Thread Starter fhithich

    (@fhithich)

    Sorry.

I thought the best way to illustrate my problem is by editing an old post so take

    https://www.fhithich.uk/?p=23127

I’ve removed the old <–raw–> coding and added two maps
    [osmap markers=”NZ58421272”]
    [osmap markers=”54.506437,-1.099305”]

The 2nd is a straight conversion of the OS Grid. But both give a grey rectangle which confuses me even more.

In desperation, I added a 3rd map using the coding that worked for me yesterday:
    [osmap markers=”54.483212,-0.992078″]

    And still does.
    Thanks, Mick Garratt

Cut and paste of exact posting:
    “…
    The good side of humanity.
    [osmap markers=”NZ58421272”]
    [osmap markers=”54.506437,-1.099305”]
    [osmap markers=”54.483212,-0.992078″]
