In reply to: [OS DataHub Maps] Getting it startedThanks, I’ll raise a separate query next time.
“Do you see the map zoom controls in the grey box?” – yes
“Also check on the plugin settings page that there is no warning about an invalid API key.” – I can’t see any warning
“… change the ‘Premium Data Use’ setting to ‘No one’” – Yes, that did the trick.
Guess I’ll have to be patient until the OS get back to me.

In reply to: [OS DataHub Maps] Getting it startedI registered back in August and was given a Project API Key then.
I’ve just downloaded the widget, activated it, entered my Project API Key and created a test post with just [osmap centre=”SD8128299116″] but all I get is a grey square.
One thing, I haven’t yet been able to ‘upgrade’ to the Premium Plan yet. It failed and I’ve emailed the OS. Is this the problem?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Posting to FacebookI have had a response from my web host:
“Hi, Thank you for contacting us. Our servers don’t block such requests especially since the XML RPC is part of the WordPress CMS. You might need to check, as Jetpack representative recommended, if you have a security plugin installed as these usually offer the possibility to disable XML RPC due to the security risk they present. Also, Facebook will send a request for the HTTPS version in most of the cases, but that means you should have a SSL certificate installed as well for that to work. Kind Regards”
I am not sure where I am supposed to check if I have a security plugin installed. It’ll either be with the web host or WordPress.
Also, I understood I didn’t need a SSL certificate if I am not collecting any info from my readers. Reluctant to go down this route as this is a purely non-commercial WordPress blog.
It happened again this morning, had to delete the post and add manually. Beginning to think maybe it’s just something I have to live with.
Thanks

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Images Not LoadingAndy, I’m having the same problem although your page looks ok to me. Have you fixed it? Started 48 hours ago. My last two postings are affected for sure, replaced by a “?” icon. Some previous posts too. Safari and Chrome show different images affected. Images show on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Running WordPress 4.8.2 with TwentySeventeen theme version 1.3. My page https://www.fhithich.uk
Edit: I think I’ve found the problem. Using JetPack, recently ‘updated’ to 5.4. I disabled the option “Speed up images and photos” and it seems to have fixed it. Another query mentioned this but used slightly different wording https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/not-all-images-load-on-site/

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I tried to install Jetpack; entered my WordPress URL(https://fhithich.wordpress.com) and got the message: “Your site is safely hosted at WordPress.com which means you already have most of the Jetpack goodness right out of the box.”
But couldn’t find it listed under plugins – only Shopify, Ecwid, and Gumroad which I haven’t a clue what they are about. Plus the ubiquitous button asking me to upgrade. So absolutely none the wiser.
Is this supposed to have been resolved? I got into the habit of deselecting FB and then posting manually. Yesterday I thought I’d give it another go. Black bars are still there.
Quite frustrating.
Note: I am not using this Jetpack.
Has this been resolved yet? I am experiencing the same problem but am not using this Jetpack (as far as I know).
