In reply to: Database ConnectionAgain, I’m not a plugin developer, but it seems to me that you will need to incorporate the tables into the wp db if you want to make it available to the public, otherwise, what good would it be to others?

In reply to: Database ConnectionI’m not a plugin developer and don’t have a video for this, but wouldn’t it be better to get that information from the wp-config.php using something like an include statement……

In reply to: How to make website created in WordPress into a blogSounds like your designer has customized your theme (and maybe even some of the core files), not knowing what customization has been done, it will be difficult for someone to help. One pro of getting someone else to design your site is you can get what you want…one con is that you may get stuck with a custom site that is difficult to get help with from someone other than the person who customized it.

In reply to: have been trying install for hoursYour problem is still in the settings in wp-congig.php or in the database itself. You need to make sure the database is set-up, the database user is set-up, the user is assigned to the database, and the user is given proper permissions on that database. Then you need to make sure the correct info is put in wp-config.
See the following video for help.

If that doesn’t help you, then click on the Install tag on that site and look for the video showing how to install WP.

In reply to: installation problemsDid you try installing the wordpress files in root? If you followed the video, then you have the files in a directory–probably called wordpress. Just move all of those files (the ones in the wordpress directory) into root. Then all you need to do is connect to your original database by entering the proper values in the wp-config.php file and you should have your original site back — minus any custom themes, plugins, or uploads…but you will have all your posts.

In reply to: Fantastico WP instal problemThe video shows you how to upload the wordpress zip file to public_html and extract it. It will extract into a directory called wordpress.
If you already have a wordpress install in public_html called wordpress, then simply use the Cpanel file manager to create a new directory in public_html and name it anything–let’s say WP-TEMP for example. Then upload the wordpress zip file into WP-TEMP and extract it there. Once it’s extracted into the directory, you will have public_html/WP-TEMP/wordpress — now, just rename that wordpress directory to something else — blog, for example — and then, move it out to public_html. Then you will have your new source code in public_html/blog and your other install will be in public_html/wordpress.
Just follow the rest of the video from there.
Note: If you want to use the same database your other blog is using, then see the following video for installing multiple blogs using a single database.
