Found the issue and fixed it.

Cannot create Galleries was caused by incompatible database files.

Solution was to:

? Uninstall newest version. (deleting all ngg_ tables)
? Install older version 0.99.1
? Import backed up .sql
? Test gallery creation – ?? yay!
? Upgrade to newest NextGen version (1.2.1)
? Admin interface presents – ‘Database Upgrade’

Everything is back in order. Good Grief. Hope this helps.

[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Galleries not Created:

I have to tackle this problem today for two of my WP sites that have been moved. After the move and complete restore, NextGen seems to function in all aspects except to display new galleries.

I can click the add gallery button and the page refreshes. Via FTP, I see the folder created but NextGen does not recognize the new gallery.

Previous advice is to uninstall/re-install NG plugin. Yikes. Any proven advice will be helpful.

I can’t write a simple <href or <img line of html but I’ve installed wordpress and WPMU countless times in addition to sharing a blog with a friend in Kuala Lumpur who can hardly speak English.

You won’t find easier to install and operate with a better support community anywhere.

Try a hosting package recommended by www.ads-software.com that installs WP for you.

Deactivating all the plug-ins worked for me.

I am also using 1&1 hosting.
NextGEN works flawlessly for over a year, through the version changes, etc. Thumbs generate fine in all my other sites with the same setup, only this new site suddenly stopped working.

After disabling all plug-ins I was able to single file upload, folder upload, scan folder for new images, etc – all working fine. Big relief, thanks for the advice in this post.
