I upgraded 6 blogs to 2.5.1, one blog has exactly the same problem as you have. I am searching for answers.

Tried to turn off all plugins and reload, also switched to the default theme and back with no change. Still searching for the answer.

It now works after I deactivated the ‘customize permalink’ plugin and switched to default setting on the permalinks and reset by changing the theme to ‘default’ and then back again to my current theme. Now all the navigation works on my site.

However, all the hundreds of links to my past articles and pages from other blogs and sites will now be broken. Nearly half of my traffic comes from past links.

Any fix or plugin out there to do a ‘date and name’ permalink with 2.5.1?

    Moshu:

I changed to default because after upgrading none of my internal navigation to my pages, comments, ‘to continue reading’ links no longer worked.

I had read that plugins could be the problem so I deactivated all of them and activated one at a time and found that my ‘customize permalink’ plugin seem to no longer work at 2.5 and 2.5.1. After changing the structure all the navigation worked again and visitors could access my pages, continue reading articles and read and make comments once more.

I am looking for a fix or a new plugin so that I can use my old ‘name and date’ permalink structure with 2.5.1.

thanks sherry for the help, I will check out the link.

    hi Sherry:

Yes, all of the old permalinks are now changed to the new structure. However, there are perhaps several hundred links to some of my old posts from other blogs and websites which can’t be changed and now no longer work. A lot of traffic comes to my blogs from links on other sites.

I have the same problem, I can only use the default setting since upgrading to 2.5 and 2.5.1

My previous customize permalink setting no longer works. this leaves me with lots of links in posts to previous articles which no longer function.

    thanks for the tip sherry,

I was using the customize permalink plugin. I turned it off and reset it to default and now it works. However, this leaves hundreds of links to my past articles no longer functioning.

I just upgraded 9 blogs to 2.5 – and then to 2.5.1 -only the homepage works on each – clicking on category/page/post links/and comments just results in a 404 error!

I have already tried to change the permalinks to default with no results. still no go except main page.

I had this problem several times when I downloded text from microsoft word into a post–it distorted all the articles on the page and enlarged the size. When I deleted problem text. Everything went back to normal. On another occasion I edited the post by going to the end and hit the delete button 20-30 times then published and it was back to regular size. Hit delete 1 or 2 times for every line inserted. It works sometimes, don’t know why.

I received the following message at the top above the page after switching themes–switched to another theme then back again and it disappeared. Shows up once in a while and I do a switch and a switch back to get rid of it. The following is the message I get–what the heck does it mean anyway?:

WordPress database error: [Got error 134 from storage engine]
