Because ImageMagick has no relation with the function to show exiting thumbnails .
Have you reinstalled the plugin?

This plugin doesn’t touch a PDF file itself.
It maybe caused by the file structure or the browser.
Firstly, please upload the PDF and check it without plugin.

Yes author can select thumbnail, medium, fullsize, title, or url when inserting a PDF.

Yes, WP4.7 creates thumbnails for PDF files! But for some people who can’t install Imagick API, this plugin supports to generate a PDF thumbnail.

And the plugin also is supporting to insert a thumbnail with pdf file link into the editor and to set pdf file as a featured image. They are not supported by WP4.7

Ver 1.5.1 is able to run on WP4.7, but there is some integrity problems. It means that WP4.7 and the plugin cause double generating. This is really an ugly situation.

I feel necessity to renovate the plugin for the future deployment, and I’m preparing ver 2.0. But It needs big change and more days to be released.

This is caused when PDFs have transparent background. But it’s NOT what I expected.
I uploaded jp12354’s file on my site and it worked normally.

Try to check “Customize Generated Image properties” off and upload the same file.
If it goes fine, recheck it on and expressly set “Background Color” to white or #ffffff.
If not, it is possibility of an indigenous problem of the imageMagick version which you are using. Anyway, I need some more information. imageMagick or imagick extension (and there version), PHP version.

Have you try “Customize Generated Image properties” in the plugin settings page?
If your server doesn’t have enough resources, be patient until the next version. I am preparing “medium quality” settings.

I found the information of the conflict of admin_menu hook. It is happening when ACF is activated.
I add a priority to the hook in PIGEN, and now the conflict must be resolved.

Please update the plugin.
