Solution: I changed the permissions of the “Plugins” folder to “0755” and all came back to normal. (From, I believe: 0766) Thanks, Enjoy. SPA

When I go to “Plugins” then “Editor” , I get “There are no plugins installed on this site.” message, even though I have Akismet folder there.

esmi – This was an unresolved post.

I have the same problem as the creator of the post:

    QUOTE

I keep trying to install a couple plugins and I can’t get them activated.
If I use the “add new” feature in wordpress, it does say it successfully installs, but when I click on activate, I get the error message “The plugin does not have a valid header.” If I use FTP to check the plugin folder, the new plugin does appear.

If I ftp the folder into my plugins directory, and copy files over that way, the plugin doesn’t show up on the WordPress dashboard.

I’ve tried many different plugins, all of which result in the same message or end result.

    Thanks for the help.

What is the point of creating another post/thread when this one remains unsolved?

I am experiencing the exact same problem on the latest Version of WordPress (Version 3.4.2) with a relatively fresh install of about one month, still on the latest version, with plugins like Akismet and Jetpak.
