In reply to: support for path forwardingOh really? Doesn’t it work with domain masking enabled? I thought that was to cover up the redirect, otherwise it would just display the path that it’s been redirected to.
Er, I’ll go undo that (I’ve got simple web access to a few of those settings) and see what that does. Thanks.

In reply to: support for path forwardingThat’s right. (Sorry about the delays in this discussion – there are days when I can’t get to this work at all, it’s in my spare time…)
We’re looking into moving the WordPress after all, now. It’s certainly the surest way to solve it.

In reply to: support for path forwardingWell, it displays all the pages, but I did that before I posted this original question, so it’s still the same issue that I’ve been facing.

In reply to: support for path forwardingOK, thanks. I’ve had them add the new domain as an alias on the domain where WordPress is installed. Is that what it means to map the added domain to the directory?

In reply to: support for path forwardingThanks James.
I was hoping to avoid needing to move the WordPress. Is that really the only way? Everything works perfectly, just as it is, except for that one small issue of displaying the path of the url.
But making it display properly is pretty necessary in the long run, and it will be Good For Me to learn how to move a WordPress, so I’ll do it if I have to – but if there were another way I would take it.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to display full url on redirected domainI hope someone with more knowledge than me comes across this post soon. Meanwhile, I’m learning things but a bit afraid to try too many changes in case I break it again…
It seems like maybe the advice at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5690673/wildcard-domain-redirect-with-wordpress will help me, but I’m just not certain. I’m just worried because a redirect isn’t really what I’m trying to do – they’re already at the right location, they just can’t see the url the way I want it in the address bar.
I’m searching every day for new ways to look at this problem but I can’t find any sign of anyone having solved it. Yet I’m sure it’s a pretty basic thing that should be possible.
Anyone?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How to display full url on redirected domainI’ve been playing around more and I still don’t really know how it all works (so if you can shed any light then please do), but this is how it appears to me so far:
– We have ‘path forwarding’ enabled from our new domain at flametree.coop. This is working properly, so that when I manually add the subdirectories from the old url onto the end of the new one, it displays the correct page/post/etc.
– I tried a plugin (Simple 301, among others) to set up a rule to bulk redirect all pages to the new domain. This brought up blank pages, even though when I disabled the rule, refreshed the page, and typed in the url manually, it worked. I eventually deduced that this must be because I’ve redirected the new domain to point at the old one where the site is hosted, so when I then redirect the original urls to the new one, they just loop. That leaves me a bit stuck. I’m sure it’s possible to get the site to display the full path of the url, but replacing the host domain with our new one? But I can’t see how. Can anyone help?

In reply to: How to display full url on redirected domainIn the 2nd par, above, I meant replacing ‘flametreecoop.com/community’ with ‘flametree.coop’

In reply to: Site no longer visible unless logged inIssue resolved. It seems to have been a plugin that is no longer supported and I’m guessing it’s incompatible with 4.0.1. I disabled it and there is no longer a problem.

In reply to: [Ignite] Image stretched in teaser but not in postPerfect!
Thanks so much. Learning to use the machine…Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Ignite] Image stretched in teaser but not in postIt turns out the visibility thing was an issue with a plugin. I’ve deactivated it and the link should work now. So if you look at that same link, scroll down to the third post, you should see in the teaser a small image stretched to the full width of the post.
That post was imported from blogspot using an importer plugin. The images came across as simple
<a>
code but I’ve replaced them with inserted images now, but the issue remains.By the way I’ve upgraded to WP 4.1 in the meantime.
Suggestions?
Thanks.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Site no longer visible unless logged inAnyone know what causes an error like that, or what I might have done to make it happen? It seems that pages work, but posts don’t.

In reply to: [Ignite] Image stretched in teaser but not in postOh thanks for letting me know. Yes, when I try navigating around, I find I can see most pages but not posts (or categories). We’re looking into it.
In the meantime, I’ve sorted out my other issues with Custom CSS and forum searches, so there’s just this little one (and the site non-visibility…)
I’ll let you know when we’ve tracked down that problem and can get back to working on this one. Thanks so much.

In reply to: Site no longer visible unless logged inYes that’s the error we get. But when I view it in the browser where I’m logged in, there are no problems.

In reply to: [Ignite] Image stretched in teaser but not in postThanks for replying.
The site is still under construction, so maybe it’s only visible when I’m logged in, although I’ve been soliciting feedback from others who’ve been able to see it OK. I found I can see it in Firefox but not in Chrome, but then I’m logged in in Firefox. But as far as I can tell, it’s only set to ‘discourage search engines’ not to block anyone.
But now I find that other people can’t see it either. I’m not sure what I’ve done there…
