Great thorough answer. Thank you!
Thank you
Thank you for that info. If you think of it, reply to this post once that feature is available.
As for how this works, if I create a betterlink and then copy and paste it in a browser, it works. But how does that link know to first go to the betterlink server for redirection?
And then at some point the links are updated on DNS servers so that if the BetterLink server is not working, the links created via BetterLink will keep working forever?
I see now that I can do that after all. Thanks.
Perhaps I stated a bad example. That one works fine because the person hovering over the footer in the origin site will see a url of the destination site so they won’t think it’s a problem.
But say I have a button in the google business profile of company Acme.com. I want that button to have UTM parameters but use a BetterLink. And assume that Acme.com is hosted on a non-wordpress site so they do not have BetterLink. If I create a BetterLink from another WP site called Rockets.com, then the url someone sees when hovering over the Website button in the Google Business Profile for Acme.com will show a url with the domain Rocket.com. That is not acceptable. So that is the problem I was trying to see if there’s some workaround.
For instance, is there a way to not force the BetterLink to start with the domain of the WP site that the plugin is installed?
Also, can you explain how/where the BetterLink is resolved? Does BetterLink immediately update DNS servers so that the link is usable anywhere in the world instantly? My tests show the links are available right after I create them.
Thank you

I can? I thought the definition of the short link is resolved at the site that has the link. But you are saying the link I create in any site is usable by any other site?
Let’s say the Godaddy site is called JoseWorld.com and it has a link in the footer to Agency.com.
Currently the link to Agency.com looks something like this:
https://agency.com?utm_source=xxx&utm_medium=yyy
If I had WordPress and BetterLink in the JoseWorld.com, the betterLink would be a link like this https://JoseWorld.com/go/agency, correct?
So if I add a BetterLink in the Agency.com, it would be a link like this https://Agency.com/go/agency, and I could use that in any site even if that site was not WordPress and had no BetterLink installed? If so, where does the value link get resolved?
I understand. I didn’t think there was a way but I wanted to check.
On the Godadday website, I have a footer link to another website. I want to add UTM parameters to that link but I don’t want them visible if someone hovers over the link. So I thought of BetterLink since I use that in many other sites.
Thank you
I know you said the Reset button will delete all analytics data and there is no way to do that for individual links. But I have come across many times I wish that, after testing, I could Reset a particular link just before going live with it. So I wonder if you would consider that as a possible addition to a new version? Thank you
In the meantime, would deleting a BetterLink and re-creating it achieve the goal of resetting the analytics data for that link (i.e. does deleting a BetterLink delete it’s usage history as well)? If so, then the only downside is you have to make sure you create an exact copy after you delete it and then you will want to test it again and then you have test data in the analytics. ??

I tried the Better Replace and it did not find that wp-content link. If I used the domain to replace https://<mydomain> with https://<mydomain>, then I got some breaking change warning from dev tools. So I have restored it back.
Thank you for you reply. I think you are referring to a problem that causes the lock symbol to not show as locked in the address bar. My site shows it secure.
I think the reason my page is not showing properly when editing via wordpress in chrome has to do with this additional error:
This page failed to load a stylesheet from a URL.
AFFECTED RESOURCES
1 source
<mydomain>/:0
I also get a mixed content error:AFFECTED RESOURCES
1 source
Name post-v2-728-1716867049.css?ver=2.6.12
Restriction Status blocked
Thank you once again.
I have also left a well-deserved review.

That was an amazingly thorough explanation and helpful video. Is that Chrome Dev Tools you are using to monitor?
Thank you very much.
Thank you @iapial for you always-quick and through replies.
I just checked the analytics page and I see all the data is now displaying for all the BetterLink names at the bottom.
I did not do anything to bring that data back…it just did so on its own somehow.
Quick question though…if I modify the target url (by changing either the domain or the url parameters), will it get a new row in the analytics? Or do the analytics just show by Link Name and not by Target URL?
Thank you
Good idea about using google drive.
Here are the 3 screenshots:

I am not familiar with the location of Console log. Sorry.
I had added and removed some other plugins for popups. But no clearing of data or anything like that.
All I did was go go Better Links / General/ “Refresh Stats” button.
This is how you had previously told me to get the most current stats. Last time I did it a couple of weeks ago, it worked fine that way.
I tried to attach screenshots here but it only allows images with urls.
