In reply to: [WordSocial] [Plugin: WordSocial] Facebook Connect BrokenI checked several by now…
I ended with sharepress too, pro version 24$ -> the base “free” version is just a mockup can’t really be used for anything. The pro on the other side is really good: truly a lot of options, very flexible, like the way it posts to FB (title/excerpt/images/etc). Posts also on Twitter, and authors write they are working on LinkedIn too. So far, sharepress is not conflicting with other “social” plugins (Simple FB connect – another good product – is much more sensitive).
Sharepress also has an interesting addon which uses FB to integrate comments 2 ways . I didn’t test it yet, from what I read it looks like it is either/or (ie. EITHER normal WP comment function -> everyone can post even if they don’t login on FB/ OR use the addon -> comments are synchronized, but only FB users can post). Anyway… even IF this is the case, the choice is yours.
Great plugin anyway.

In reply to: [WordSocial] [Plugin: WordSocial] Facebook Connect Brokenit’s a pity – I was still trying, but this was by far the easiest and best plugin I saw on WP
alternatives are “simple Facebook connect”, “simple Twitter connect” and “Simple Google Connect” (same author – very powerful tools – you need to create your own apps but it’s not big deal)
another one is “sharepress”
If anyone has more to recommend, be welcom.
Tommy, if you ever read this, I would just like to say you were doing great, and I would have loved to “pay you a beer” at the end of my testing!
Ref. the problem with FB which probably triggered the shutdown, couldn’it have been connected to publishing “privacy policies” and “terms of services”. I can’t see your app anymore, but I’ve seen FB getting stricter on this.
Nice plugin, I like it! Just writing to give you a feedback: unfortunately I have the same problem… I will keep the plugin on my list and in case you guys figure out the problem (I wasn’t able to), and release an update addressing it, I will probably start using it! All the best ??
Hi.
I upgraded to the latest version (1.3) and I have noticed that now one can insert the width in percent from the setting page.
i.e. if one writes “95” then pixels is taken as a default and the width of the map is “95 pixels”, but if one writes “95%” the map is sized as a percent of the column/page.
No need to change functions.js – Super!
You may want to change the documentation/ the text shown on the setting page itself, so that everyone can take advantage of the functionality!
Great plugin!
Hi Jan
I owed you a feedback, but coincidentally it was not until today that I put my hands on an iPhone ??
Placemarks were visible on Android before and after the upgrade.
I didn’t test iPhone before the upgrade, but placemarks are visible now.
Placemarks are not yet visible on Nokias Symbian^3 smartphones (my C7) but this is not so relevant. A new release of the OS (incl. a new browser) is waited for autumn, but since this OS has a very low market share and it is doomed to death anyway, I don’t think it is worth spending more time about ??
I would say: case closed!
Many thanks Edrard, very kind of you!
Just…I don’t think we should invest more time on the issue ??
As I said, I am happy with the standard WP uploader. I don’t need to investigate further on a “custom” solution for my own sake, but I copied Foliopress on their forum, in case they want to follow up on the case for future relases of the plugin.
Thanks Edrard.
Your suggestion workes in the sense that I don’t get any longer a “fatal error” message, now Foliopress opens a window divided in two columns, where the left one has a sort of navigation menu: “Directories” and “Directory properties” while the column to the right is blank.
Not as a big issue, as I am happy with the WP image uploader, but maybe Foliovision should look at the issue when they make a new release.
Thanks for the quick feedback.
There are several placemarks on the map, both “custom” and “undefined” (google′s standard). None of them is visible.
But in fact… I’ll still try to see how it looks like on Android and iPhone, before coming back… if it’s a Symbian problem after all, there is no reason to loose time on it (as you probably know, Nokia decided to install Windows Phone on all their future products and Symbian is going to die).
WoW! Thank you very very much! Works perfectly!
Ups… I realized I CAN use the standard WP uploader buttons to select the featured image…. ie. my turnaround works in all cases… but I am leaving the topic open, in case someone wants to post a fix to the problem with the code ??
