ok, finally figured it out. Looks like this was some weird stuff coming down to first my hosting companies hard drive filled up and then I suddenly was a Gig over quota, but we had plenty of space on the hard drive.

What I learned: WordPress doesn’t run when it doesn’t have the ability to change something on the filesystem.

I managed to get another error message. Does this look familiar?

Thanks, I have my host checking that out. It doesn’t seem to be affecting any of my other databases hosted there where it did yesterday.

Due to your help, I moved the discussion to https://blogs.linux.ie/support/topic.php?id=17#post-52 and got ahold of Alistair who is now working the direction of getting LDAP support for MU running.
