In reply to: [TAO Schedule Update] Keeping permalink the same?It would be nice if the temporary page’s permalink would be the same, for example “update”. So instead of example.com/page-permalink/page-permalink it would be example.com/page-permalink/update. It’s easier to use as preview, for example to get approval from third parties.
Fantastic! Thanks for the fix. And thanks for the color names! That warrants more than a point release though, no?

In reply to: [Redirection] Add option for automatically handling optional trailing slashesThanks for the reply, but Issue #166 seems to be completely unrelated.
I found Issue #176 though which does indeed talk about trailing slashes but a solution is not being addressed at all.
That’s good to know and it does solve the problem for me now that I know about it. My initial suggestion was about defaults. In other words, the plugin should ship with the above setting set to “Don’t Publish” by default. Thanks.

In reply to: [WPMU Database Reset] It works!!Non-standard tables, i.e. those created by different themes or plugins, should, in fact, be deleted, no?

In reply to: [WPMU Database Reset] It works!!Nope, still no go. After you click to confirm, you’re greeted with the infamous You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page message.
The uploads folder is deleted, but the database tables are only emptied (not dropped). Regardless, user permissions become messed up and the site is unusable (you can log in, but you can’t access any of the admin pages).

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] "Delete Cache" link in top toolbar doesn't do anythingVanilla Ubuntu, Apache 2.4.
By the way, I wasn’t aware that the topbar link is only supposed to delete the “current page” cache… in which case it should only display when editing a page.
The whole thing is a little crummy, for example, even when clicked from within a page editor, it then takes you back to the main dashboard.
I suggest this topbar link to delete the entire cache.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Simply not tracking [211 Bot not tracked]I forgot to mention that I even turned off the Ignore bots and Ignore spammers options, so maybe it’s not because of browscap after all?
Bravo! Thank you!!!
Now I’m using this plugin, plus the Save With Keyboard plugin for CTRL-S.
All this, combined with a super-snappy hosting server, makes for a much more pleasant editing experience for us heavy users.
Thanks again, good work!

In reply to: [AnythingSlider for WordPress] FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX!!!Very nice easing demo, I never saw it before. And yes, a link would be helpful, although a little demo built into the plugin would be even nicer.
On the other hand, the average user would think that those effects are just variations of the
expand
FX. Most of them won’t understand how the easing calculations apply to all other FX, including slide-ins, fades etc.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [AnythingSlider for WordPress] FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX!!!UX police here again, pointing out some things that were discussed above but should NOT be done:
– Anything that requires the user to type in code. Use dropdowns, checkboxes, etc. instead.
– Anything that involves copying and pasting code. PHP can do this.
– Too many easing transforms. Otherwise, be ready to answer support emails asking stuff like “What is Quint and why can’t I see any difference from Quart? I think this plugin is broken!”Also, like I mentioned before, the left-right “classic” effect should be, from the user’s point of view, just another effect. This means that if, for example, a slide has a fade or expand effect to it, the
animationTime
should automatically become zero (no slide-in effect). It should be up the the user to combine effects if needed.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [AnythingSlider for WordPress] FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX, FX!!!Thanks for the demo; it’s impressive. I didn’t even imagine this kind of customization. The prepopulated dropdowns are a great idea and truly allow for ultimate flexibility. I would definitely tweak my shows to death with it.
On the other hand, the UX police says OMG no, this all needs to be hidden; somewhere under an “Advanced” tab or something. In the main options, a few presets should suffice for most users. I’d say “Fast”, “Medium” and “Slow”.

In reply to: [Plugin: AnythingSlider for WordPress] Unique Category for Each SlideI was hoping to find a plugin that would handle most of what I needed as I am not a strong WordPress developer.
See, Jacob, I told you so! People just want something that simply works, without having to dig into the code.

In reply to: [AnythingSlider for WordPress] Future Feature: Easy SkinningThe average WordPress user won’t take the time to read any documentation. Not only that, but they definitely won’t mess around with CSS files and FTP uploads and whatnot. Whatever comes built in, that’s what they’ll use.
As for previewing skins, I didn’t mean an actual real-time preview, rather just small pictures with example screenshots.
And keep in mind… even after the FX is added, this will be just another slider. Some cool eye candy can make it stand out and it’s the eye candy is what people want. Not lightweightness or performance or whatever. It could be Adobe Flash, for all they care. If it looks good, it’s a great plugin!
