In reply to: Unable to add imagesI can’t find anything in my cPanel referring to “mod security”. The only item under “security” is AutoSSL, referring to the SSL Certificate.
Any other suggestions?
I have a question. I’ve looked at the cheat sheet, but it doesn’t actually provide information as to HOW to get the custom message to look like that! I’ve tried cutting and pasting, pasting in the short link, nothing I do has the effect of making the custom message work.

In reply to: change image that appears when post goes to FacebookThanks. But Actually, no, I’m not using that. I relying on the “Publicize” feature within the WordPress setup for creating a post. At the right, under “PUblish”, I have set it up to post directly to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. In days gone by, it would always show up there with the first image in the post.

In reply to: [Amdhas] customising AMDHAS themeI’m using AMDHAS custom menu. Home page does not show up there. I now realise there is a link down in the content to “home”, just not up in the Navigation bar.
Widget Context works for me. Couldn’t figure out the code for Widget Logic.
Still can’t get font sizes to change.
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: [Amdhas] customising AMDHAS themeThanks, I did use your advice to get the landing page to show up at all. However, it doesn’t set up a link in the navigation menu. So once you navigate away from the home (landing) page, you can’t get back to it except by retyping the address into the browser.
I will now try Widget Logic for the other problem. Thanks for the tip.

In reply to: AMDHAS theme static home page missingon the other hand…
I just checked the site on Safari, and the home page is back. Checked again on Chrome, and it’s there also.
Who knows… It’s a mystery.

In reply to: unable to access wordpress siteThanks. I had a look at it, and tried some of the suggestions. It seems to me my problem is not – now – changing the url, but just getting it back online as it was. The files are in their original folder, so they should load, but they don’t. So I need a fix for just getting back online.
Thanks for the suggestions though, a useful article, much appreciated.

In reply to: unable to login at allThanks Rich. I would like to stay in touch, especially I’d like to know if you find another host, in case I decide to switch too. It’s always good to have a recommendation. I’ve happy with IXWebhosting up till this, but if I have to move, so be it.
You can contact me directly via my website https://www.being-in-voice.com which has coded security on the email address. Or via twitter – @flloydpk. I’d be interested to see your site also.
with all good wishes

In reply to: unable to login at allHi Rich,
Here is the response I received from IXWebhosting back in April:
“The problem must be related to the fact that newest version of wordpress requires php 5, and there is only php version 4 available at your current web server. That is why such upgrade of wordpress can actually corrupt your website. We would recommend continue using your current version of wordpress, until we update php version at your web server or will be able to move you to the server where php 5 is already supported. We are planning to perform such migration for all customers from your server block at the nearest months. However, we don’t have any ETA at the moment. We will notify you for sure once migration is scheduled. Meanwhile the best variant would be to use current wordpress version. Thank you for understanding. “
So, I am presently on WordPress 3.1. and that is with some adjustments having been made by the IXWebhosting people. It became pretty obvious that, as they said, each upgrade just resulted in corrupted files.
So although it’s annoying to have to see the “Please Upgrade Now” notices all over the place, I won’t upgrade until IX has put my sites where php5 is available. The only alternative is to move to a different server, and frankly I don’t have the time to mess about with it right now. Also, I’ve paid the current server (IXWebhosting) up till next March. If they haven’t upgraded to php5 by then, I’ll consider moving.
I’m pretty sure WordPress 2.9 was ok. Try 3, see how it goes. Back up everything!
I never did get round to exploring Alexander’s recommended fix (above). So much to do, so little time!
Good luck!
cheers

In reply to: unable to login at allThanks, Alexander.
My service provider helped me to get back to a previous version, and advised that I don’t upgrade again until they have established my sites on a server with php5.
I will however, try your suggestion on a mock version sometime during the week when I have some free time. I’ll report back here how I get on.
Cheers
