Unfortunately the new setting has not solved my problem.
I am testing it by creating a new post by email. It looks fine.
Then I write a new mail with the same subject prefixed with “Re:” and the exact same mail content as the first one.
The new mail gets inserted as a comment but the amount of code inserted in the DB is only a third of the original post. It does not recognize line breaks either.

Maybe in my eagerness for a solution I have messed so much with the plugin settings that it is my own fault? In case of that I have also taken some screendumps of my settings.

If I had my way then the discussion board on my site should not respect the original formatting at all. It makes the thread look confusing. But unfortunately my client insist that all messages – both posts and comments – looks the same on the site as in the original mail that was sent including signature and all.

To make a long story short, no I am not asking you to make a generel setting as I don’t think I am representing the majority of your users.
But if you could advise me how to disable the function that checks for duplicate content so that the comments lives up to my clients wishes, then I would be very grateful ??

Another problem has occurred. Hope you don’t mind I ask you in the same thread here:

It is important for my users that when they post by email that the original formatting from their email is kept – also when they are commenting on a thread.

When I create a new post by email, it now looks fine, but when I try to reply to the thread (with the exact email content) most of the original html is not inserted into the DB, like it was when the new post was created.

When I update the comment via the dashboard with the same html as in the original post, the comment looks just fine. So I guess my template supports full html in the comment section.

Is it Postie who strips the comment before inserting to the DB or can you point me in the right direction?

Update:

When I post directly from my Gmail account on the gmail-website then there are no problems with posting links and email addresses.

Hope this info can help find the solution ??
