In reply to: WP 3.0.5 bug?

I’m not sure if this is the same problem, but comments have stopped working entirely on a blog I’ve just upgraded to 3.0.5. When I click on ‘2 comments’ (or whatever) at the bottom of the post I expect to go to a list of the comments and a box to add my own. It just takes me to the post on it’s own with nowhere to write a comment.
    Any ideas?!

Hi Jon. Thanks for the response. I’ve actually upgraded both blogs to 3.0.5 and tried again just now. Same deal. What’s weird is that each time I try, the list of stuff importing is of a different length. Yesterday it got to 69 before saying ‘Done’ in my browser window. Today it got to 79. I would expect some sort of,’you’ve updated, click here to continue’ or something, but it just… stops.
Could it be something to do with the fact I increased the upload limit from 2mb to 10mb?

You mention posting the export file… where would I do that?
    I am somewhat of a technophobe. ??

Ok just to confirm – you’ve used the standard WordPress export, – YES and the standard WordPress import – YES – not via any third party plugin? – NO

Additionally check your sites error logs, see if there is anything in there at the time you tried your import. – I don’t have access to error logs I’m afraid. ??

Not really! It’s just telling me to do what I’ve already done…

As far as I can tell the xml file contains the data. When I import it starts the process and generates a list of stuff it’s importing. I have tried to import several times. When I try immediately it tells me that all the files already exist. If I try in a new session it just stops as before. ??

The more the merrier! It seems crazy that Exporting from one WordPress blog and then importing to another WordPress blog should be so difficult!
FYI Rich ‘elfin’ Pedley, I’ve managed to check the database and the new posts aren’t there!
    Thanks.

Let’s assume they didn’t get imported! What’s the solution? The import gets as far as generating the list of things ‘importing’ and then just stops.

    Thanks for the reply.
…I don’t know. How do I find out? Shouldn’t the import function automatically add the posts to the database for me?
