In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] New user, lost Dashboard optionsHi there. Sounds as if you have hit the collapse button at the bottom of the dashboard icons. Can you describe what you can see – is it a list of icons on the left hand side running top to bottom? If it is – can you see a icon at the bottom showing a triangle inside a circle? Looks like the play button on a DVD player… If you can, click on the triangle and your text menu’s should reappear. Generally, if you are happy with the defaults in 2017 theme there should be no need to get involved in many code issues so you should be able to be blogging without stress.
Hope this helps.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Theme not workingSome idea of what’s not working would help.
adding the code below to your ‘Additional CSS’ section should do the trick
.main-navigation {
background-color: silver;
color: #186617;

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutIt can be done I know but it’s not something I have done so I need to research the method/coding.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutAlso on reading your post again, I don’t think the 2 column mode is the proper solution for you. If you are simply trying to widen the display then there is a better way to do it. It is relatively easy to control what width your main posts are.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutAh! I think you may not have set your theme to a static page. Goto Homepage settings and select a static page (it will be on blog at the moment) – then the Theme Options should appear as you have to detail what sections of your site you want to display on the static page. You should then be able to set up a 2 column arrangement.
Hope it goes ok

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutVery odd Gavin
I have uploaded a screen shot of my backend but not sure if the link will work on this forum – may not be allowed. If you can click on the link and view it perhaps you could take a screenshot of your backend so I can see the issue? Make sure you crop out and blur any personal information.

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutSounds like your menu is collapsed. Look at the icons on the left hand edge and you should see a grey circle with a dark gear/black triangle in it right at the bottom of the list (a bit like a play symbol) – click on that and your options should appear including appearance ( hopefully!)

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] How to Get Page Layout to Emulate Blog LayoutLog into your website back end
select Appearance/Customise
select Theme Options
Click on 2 columnRemember you will have to add content to the 2nd column through widgets etc otherwise it will just look like your content has shifted to the right.
Hope this does what you are looking for.
Hi. You can insert a ‘Read More’ tag from the ‘edit post’ page. Your post will then only display up to that point and the viewer can click on the the tag to read more. Hope this helps.

In reply to: [Pixova Lite] Pixova-lite child themeHi again,
Quick question here before I contact the support@machothemes email .. but perhaps my expectation of what should happen when I activate the child theme is wrong.. I currently have live content in my website and use the Pixova-Lite theme – Images and text. I was expecting that when I activate the child theme that all content would be picked up by the new child theme and look the same. Is that not the case? In effect if I activate a child theme do I have to redo all my content?
Thanks again,
FS

In reply to: [Pixova Lite] Pixova-lite child themeHi,
Thanks for your update.
I installed a fresh WP instal on my local machine using MAMP – Ensured everything was fully updated and installed the Pixova-lite theme and the ‘Child Theme Configurator’ plugin.
The only change I made to the theme was to select the single page option.
The website looked exactly as I would expect ..
I then installed the child theme with no reported errors. I activated the child theme and found the same errors as before – incorrect font sizes, graphics overlaying text etc.
Is this best handled by contacting the email address to supplied as I don’t want to assume you have the time to spend investigating it ?
I also appreciate that this is the lite version of the theme I am using but it is my intention to purchase the full version. All I am doing pre-purchase is ensuring it meets my needs which it does if I can sort the child them problem out.
Should/Could I use a plugin for custom code and avoid the child theme altogether?
Many thanks again for your time.
FS.

In reply to: [Pixova Lite] Pixova-lite child themeHi, Thanks for the info.
I took your advice and got exactly the same result – a visible child theme to select but when I activate it, my text content is there as I would expect but the layout/format is wrong .. no images despite them being there when I view the content in the customise theme section .. any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
I am using ‘Child Theme Configurator’ which has a good rating and many thousands of active installs..
All suggestions/alternatives appreciated.
Thanks in advance
