Today i found the following message at the top of my WordPress dashboard page:
The plugin geoswitch/geoswitch.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.
…nd there is no sign that the plugin was ever there!

How could that be… could WordPress simply remove a plugin by itself!?!?!?

    Wow!

    Dear @kelvinsor7,

    In response to your questions

    1. I am using WordPress version 4.9.5
    2. None of the customers are receiving SMS… for any of the order statuses specified. Here are a couple of customer numbers (as they appear in the user database): 0116842190, 0730281015
    3. No, I have not turned on debugging for WordPress. Unfortunately this is a production e-commerce site and turning on debugging adds a few seconds to page load time, which we cannot afford.
    4. Here are the two log entries for those two specific numbers
    1. 2018-03-05 13:45:35 Customer's billing phone number (0614707248) in country (ZA) converted to 27614707248
2018-03-05 13:45:35 Sending SMS to 27614707248, message: Snackage Order 1784: Dear Faith, your order was recently dispatched and is on its way. We have sent an email with your tracking number. Thanks.

    @ivole, just to clarify…

What I mean is that about 55% are responding to the review request, but of that 55%, all of them are clicking on the review request that contains details of the order we are asking them to review in the email body and none of the 55% are clicking on the review request that does not contain any details of their order in the email body.

    … just to clarify.

    Hi @ivole,

Any word on when this feature might be coming?

We are currently evaluating 2 customer review reminders/requests and customers are clicking 100% on the one that contains a visual reminder of their purchase – i.e. a copy of the order details in the email.

I really think that an {order_details} or similar variable for the email body would go a long way towards changing that.

Just thought that you’d like to know.

I think that the W3 Total Cache plugin may be caching the admin pages because it now works… Mystery!

    Thanks for the advice.

    Hi @icaleb

I will look into that and see if it resolves the problem…

    thanks… will keep you posted.

    @mujeebur,

I have left a positive review… Not withstanding the problems that I have had, my experience with the plugin has been positive… and you guys provide awesome support – that is really special and I really appreciate that.

    Hi @mujeebur,

It is definitely not a cache issue because I am running the query off the database directly.

But I did make some progress towards getting it to work. What I discovered is that if I leave the comment_ID blank in the csv, the import will work as expected – i.e. the comment type column in the table is not set to order_note. The downside is that doing so seems to break the verified user bit (even if this column is set in the csv). But I was able to create an sql insert statement to insert this into the comment meta table.

Once I had figured all of this out I was then able to import all of my comments fairly easily.

LOL… I just had to chirp in here. Apparently that is the complaint that I have seen all over… the answer to every support question appears to be “look in the FAQ…” or some similar snarky response.

This is just too funny… LOL!

@rextheme Thanks for the feedback. April timeline is great. I will get some of my users to try out the plugin and give you feedback.

I agree with you about the headache of relying on intermediated social media posting third parties. Once upon a time the likes of Hoot Suite and Buffer were a real novelty, especially if you are not on a self hosted CMS platform (and in the corporate space they are still a necessity)… but if I am already hosting my own WordPress installation, then I really want to manage all my stuff in a single place.

Thanks a lot… I am looking forward to the updated version.

Thanks for the quick reply… As it turns out I have my own servers in my own rack so I was able to follow the looooong trail of links, starting with the one you sent, to solving the problem.

You were correct as to what the problem was… I am just not sure why you did not just tell me or send me directly to the solution.

You sent me a link to an identical problem you responded to a few weeks ago, which contained a link to a similar problem you responded to a few months ago, which I discovered, after scanning the long thread, contained a link to a blog post about the dangers of a work-around to the problem from several years ago, which… you guessed it, contained a link to a thankfully actively maintained page hosting the latest CA root certificate bundles extracted from Mozilla – which I was able to upload to my server. Thankfully the old blog post from 2012 mentioned the configuration setting in php.ini that I needed to update to tell php where to find the latest CA root certificate bundle on my server.

Now you could have simply stated what the problem was (as you so eloquently did) and gone on to say…

…to solve it go to this web site and download the latest CA root certificate bundle (cacert.pem) and upload it to your php installation, then update the curl.cainfo= setting in your php.ini file to point to the location of the cacert.pem file.

On the positive side… thank you for the quick response… you have a great plugin… I will be evaluating it over the next few weeks and hope to license it for our sites soon.

    Regards.

@mf7913 if I could buy you a beer I definitely would… I have been pulling my hair out for 2 days over this problem. It is amazing that this erroneous web.config is still being generated in WordPress 4.5.3 and has still not been fixed.

Thanks for taking the time to figure this out and posting the solution back here… much appreciated.
