That did the trick! All appears to be running normally/as expected again. Many thanks!
NOTE that when I went to re-install, I got a message about the latest version of the plugin not yet being tested with my version of WordPress. As I said, it seems to be working fine. But maybe that was part of the problem.
Thanks again for your persistence in helping me and my client!
Sure, but before I do that, can you confirm that doing so will not cause all of the events currently on the site to be lost?
James I replied to your other questions separately, but that post says it is being held for moderation by the automated system and is awaiting a manual review by a moderator. Hopefully it will post soon.
This is not the post I originally found, but appears to discuss the same issue around the same timeframe:
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/cant-add-or-edit-events-after-update/Here is another (but again not the original one I had found:
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/add-new-event-option-has-disappeared-from-wp-admin/The original post I found instructed to add some code to the functions.php file for the site. I tried adding the code to my site, but it did nothing to help so I removed it again.
I noticed the issue sometime after the site’s automatic update from WP 5.6.2 to 5.6.3. But my client typically adds her own events and had not needed to do so for a while, so it may have happened earlier than that, and I simply was not aware. So the site was at WP version 5.6.3 when I was first made aware of the issue, and I updated to 5.7 as part of my trouble shooting process after first posting here.
Full disclosure, I also updated the site’s version of PHP from 7.1 to 7.3 several weeks ago, and then up to 7.4 more recently (shortly after I updated WordPress to 5.7). However, I do not think this is causing the issue, as I reverted the site back to PHP 7.1 and 7.3 just now to see if that would restore the plugin functionality, but it did not. (I just put it back up to PHP 7.4.)
I do not have the link to that older post I found from 2018, but will see if I can find it again.
OK. I followed the instructions to test for confilcts but the problem persists even with no other plugins activated and with the twenty seventeen theme. I did clear the browser cache and even did several force-refreshes on top of that.
(I do not have the twenty sixteen theme installed, but I assume any of the generic Worpress themes would work for this test.)
Update: I updated to WordPress 5.7.1 and the issue persists
Yes. The site is running Events Calendar 5.5.0.1, and WordPress version 5.6.3.
Wait – nevermind. Not sure if this was a cache issue or what, but the color legend is now appearing on the page!
Thanks, timothyniccum! I was able to revert back to that version and everything is working fine again.
I am having the same problem. There are no empty blank spaces before or after the answers, and no answers with special characters like commas or $ are being displayed in results. (So again, they are marked incorrect by the system.)
How do I go about reverting to the previous version of the plugin?
