Look in your httpd error log to see what the error is. It’s likely the PHP version is wrong or the PHP setup is missing a module. PHP 5.2 with SSL is needed.

Hotfix committed, give WP.org an hour to update the zip.

This would indicate that your PHP version is out of date. It’s not a super important feature so I will wrap it in a conditional so you can try to run it with older PHP.
Try remove/install after I patch the live version (a couple of hours at most).

Try the new version 1.0.1 also verify that PHP/SSL is installed. The new 1.0.1 only uses cURL only when the built in WP-HTTP API fails.

What browser/OS? What version of WordPress/Plugin?

The code that would do that is only run if you edit the settings. The behavior of erasing the setting when the service is unreachable and the settings are edited will be changed in an upcoming update. Watch the development log.

An upcoming release will include the ability to tune the location of the login prompt. There were just as many users unhappy with the old plugin as were happy (I am the one who read the emails). Allowing for customization is the only real answer and this will take time.
The new codebase (1.0.x) will allow for addition of custom layout and other new features over time.

The current version of the free plugin is an all new codebase. These fixes will arrive over time.

The icons for the widget and other places the small icons are used are configured with the rpx.conf.php file for now. It’s pretty easy to edit.
The large icons will be made editable later.

Try the new development version.
You get to the development version by selecting Other Versions from the plugin page.
