Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Creating Hyperlinked SubmenusI did that…I entered the URL, entered a link text–and all fields just cleared out when i selected “Add ti Menu”–didn’t tell me what to do next or anything. I looked around for what I’d “created” and found nothing. I need more direction, please.
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: www.ads-software.com Versus WordPress.comAnd that is another thing: there is no one-stop-shopping for links on how do get things done. There seem to be 15,000 disparate locations one has to search out or be directed to to get the job done. There needs to be a SINGLE (one) (1) (less than two) location where everything you need to know is located. It should be EASY and OBVIOUS to find. It should not be in coder-speak. All direction should actually work.
I believe I have on the order some 300 posts. I did everything as directed in multiple locations to migrate over my WP.com blog posts, and some worked…and some blew up. And it was left up to me to decide what size file to break up into. Me?! I had to plead with the “Happiness Engineers” to get them to do this…they finally did…and seven sets of files still failed.
I think Jetpack is used to migrate data files. Not sure of other functions.
But what is the point of having a self-hosted site on WP.org over doing it on WP.com and not going self hosted? Is there really any advantage? And can I actually deactivate my WP.com account and just go WP.org?
Please…forgive any displayed attitude, but I am extremely frustrated….
