Great question. Here is how you get rid of the META box on the side of you web page:
Go to your WordPress Dashboard> Appearance> Widgets
After your there, you should see the META widget in the sidebar panel. Just drag the widget to the main Available Widgets box. After you do that, the box should be gone.
