    If I do that, everything I’ve done or changed will disappear. No?

    Indeed, but now my tagline is in white and can’t be seen. I’ll keep trying to fix that one. Thanks. You gave me courage to play with code and knowledge, Buddha Trance.

    Please bear with me. I do see some instances with the code as you say being: url(whatever.gif), but these are under individual sections, like “calendar” or “posts.” Where is the black background at the very top of the site. At the very top of the style sheet, where it has the following code, which I changed where is says background, but it didn’t do anything except change the print color of “Bruised Muse”, what is this controlling?
    Thanks:

    body {

    font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial;

    font-size: 70%;

    color: white

    margin: 0px;

    padding: 0px;

    background:#990033

    background-repeat: repeat-x;

    background-position: top;

    }

    Thanks, Esmi. I’ve looked and changed everything related to color that I can find in there. Sometimes it seems to change certain things, sometimes it doesn’t do a darned thing. No matter what I do I still don’t seem to be able to change the original black green orange color scheme of Talian 1.0 within the stylesheet. Any other ideas?

    Thanks, Samboll. I’ve read it now, and as I usually find when I read these things, I don’t understand. Does this mean that because of a “sitebug,” I can’t ever find out what my password is or change my password?

    Also, what about the other question about subcategories in the blogroll?
    Any ideas on that?

    It may be self explanatory to you, Otto 42, but despite two graduate degrees, I’m afraid it isn’t to me. Have pity. Code may be poetry to you, but to me, poetry is poetry, and code is Greek. It’s not that I don’t believe my eyes, but I simply don’t understand, as hard as it may be for you to believe. When I click the “see all” it shows that there are no links from “google blogs”, of course, and next to that, under “google web,” it shows there is one link (from fantastic fiction), but I still don’t understand.
    What does the reader or user have to to make the “incoming links through Google blog search,” and how is that different from putting me in their blogroll or quoting me with a link? I’ve also now got another site that’s going to run my blog on their site, as in syndication. Will that put “incoming links in my Google Blog search?” I’m afraid a lot of this stuff is simply incomprehensible to me. If I could find a class or something, it would really help.

    Thanks MichaelH, but unfortunately (or fortunately) I paid someone to set this up for me, and now I’m on my own. Whenever I consult the Dummies book or the wordpress lessons or codex, it differs in substantial ways from what I see. For example the dummies book says: “Click the Add New link that appears next to the Categories heading, and then “to add a new blogroll category, be sure to select blogroll in the category parent dropdown menu.” But unfortunately there is no “blogroll” in the category parent dropdown menu, only my list of other categories. I can’t seem to figure out what to do. These are my questions at the moment:
    1.) Can I make subcategories in the blogroll? Is this possible? So for example, my blogroll would say:
    Articles
    links to my articles
    Interviews
    links to my interviews
    Friends of Bruisedmuse
    links to my friends
    My blog guy (whom I paid plenty) says there isn’t a way to do this. I think there MUST be a way to do this.
    2.)Also I’ve been trying to upload an MP3 of an interview I did, but it keeps coming up empty. Ideally I’d like to link this under interviews
    in the blogroll.
