    Thank you for your reply Eduardo.

    It is indeed a clever plugin but since I am working with an artist there is the need to insert images from the Gallery or the Media Library.

    If ever you decide to do a version which converts directly to HTML and can be edited in the WP visual (or text) editor please let me know.

    Regards,
    Peter

    If you got this far it is because you like the Photoswipe for NextGEN Gallery plugin but are having trouble using it.

    I was searching for a method or a plugin that would allow me to zoom on images in the lightbox and I finally found a plugin which not only gives me the zoom but is also rich in features and gives me the Photoswipe effect too.

    Highly recommended ARI Fancy Lightbox

    Problem is that I already have a contact plugin that works fine on the mobile version. I just want to link to that.

    Thanks

    Sorry I posted this in the incorrect way.
    If a moderator sees it please delete.

    I have posted in the correct forum here:

    Ah! Thanks for the offer of help but I have found the source of the error. I had copied in some text that was preformated from another site and it copied html code from that site.

    I was chasing a style problem when it was actually not in the theme at all but in the text. As soon as I viewed it as unformated text the problem was obvious.

    Sorry but I noticed that the code posted is not as one would see it on the screen. The line: margin-bottom: 18px; is struck through indicating it has been overridden by the format in the line: margin-bottom: 0;

    Problem resolved.

    I deleted all the tables in the database and did a reinstall. The fresh install found all the plugins because I had not deleted the files. ??

    When I re-activated all the plugins the problem had disappeared.

    Obviously some problem in the database.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Ok. I have discovered that the theme WPFolio uses wide margins for static pages. I have commented out the section:

    .widemargins{
    	margin: auto 135px;
    }
    .widemargins-override{
    margin: auto -135px;
    }

    I don’t know why the theme should use wide margins for static pages.

    I have not resolved the issue of the RH side bar not showing on static pages.

    Yes it does happen with Twelve Fourteen but I have done a lot of experimentation with activating and disactivating plugins. In some cases I had to re-name the folder for the plugin on the server to get WP functioning in the admin mode again. At the end of the day I have come to the conclusion that it is some problem between “Fast Secure Contact Form” and Akismet. If only one of them is activated everything works fine. If both are activated I either get a white screen if I try to customise a theme or, in some cases depending on which was activated first (I think) I get a white screen in all admin menu functions.

    I will try a different contact form but I am starting to think I may be using the wrong system for what I want to achieve.

    It would not surprise me if this incompatibility is actually being caused by some other plug in as I have most plugins that I am using working on other sites. The problem is that it is taking too long for me to sort out and I am going round in circles. Perhaps I should delete everything and start a new clean installation.

    Internal server errors are usually logged with more details in the server error log. The next time you see an internal server error, note the date and time, and immediately check your server error log for anything useful.

    I checked the logs and could not find anything. Just for the sake of curiosity I created a new sub domain and created a completely new installation of 2.9.2 and a new database. The only thing I changed in the wp-config.php was the name of the database. I used the same user on this and my previous database.

    I then tested the installation without a config file and it started ok, something that had not happened with the previous attempt. I did not proceed but went back and uploaded the prepared wp-config.php file.

    Again the installation started ok but this time I continued through to complete the installation.

    I really can not imagine what went wrong the first time. It is unlikely to be a corrupted file as I tried two fresh installs. The only thing I can think is that there was a transient problem with the server software that has now been resolved.

    Thanks for your patience.
