    When attempting to upgrade, this is what I get;

    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.7.1.zip

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1853087 bytes) in /home/opinion1/public_html/wildwebdesigner/wp-includes/http.php on line 1032

    I have upgraded almost 50 mother sites, with no problems, after deactivating the auto-upgrade plugin that is, but I have 3 sites left that show this error. All are on the same server, so that is not the problem, I even changed my .htaccess file, that did nothing. If you will notice, the amount “tried to allocate” is less than the allowed available. Also, 3 of the succesful upgrades were subdirectories of one that I get this error on. As usual, it must be something simple, but I cannot find it.

    Any ideas?

  • Typically I would say expand the amount of memory allocated to PHP.

    But, you might try deactivating all plugins and try the upgrade again.

    If not, can always resort to the manual upgrade process.

    That is what I did, I deactivated ALL of my plugins and the upgrade went just fine. This is where it gets weird, the other sites that upgraded just fine, they have the same plugins! I guess it is just one of those things. Anyway, thanks for your help!

    Hi MichaelH,

    The “deactivating all plugins and try the upgrade again.” worked for me too – THANKS.

    And thanks CarpetGuy for asking the question!

    Cheers.

    Wait a minute – spoke to soon. Upgraded fine but looks like now I may have a theme non-compatibility issue – using “K2 1.0-RC7” and among other things the site now sits to the left while the footer stays in the center like it is designed.

    Am I correct about the theme non-compatibility or is it a 2.7.1 issue?

    gmadd – update to the latest K2 version.

    Great stuff all round from everyone.

    Have done so thanks using the latest nightly.

    I had to re-upload my header image. I now have a white banner across the top of my image but its not the end of the world just not as clean and a waste of real estate.

    Thanks for you quick response!
