  • A P.S. – the text editor’s gone completely insane. I was using the nbsp code, again, as nothing else worked, and (why should I be surprised?) the workaround stopped working. Now it seems WP is stripping out any kind of line break I enter.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Phila

    Hi,
I have a variation on this problem..
The tag (and the <p></p> tags stopped supplying empty lines a long time ago in the site I’m managing (https://www.matthewfox.org) so I installed the Line Break Shortcode plugin, which uses the tag [br]. That worked fine – for a while. Now it’s stopped.
Out of desperation I tried entering the “nbsp” space code for new lines. Right now that’s working like a charm…but who knows for how long?
Do you have any insights on what’s happening here?
    Thanks,
    Phila

    Hi all,
I’m running into the same problem…copy(D:/Inetpub/xxxx/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in D:\Inetpub\xxxx\wp-admin\includes\class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 200 –

It’s not giving me any more info than that… How do you diagnose the issue? It seems this problem can have a number of possible causes…?

I updated the plugins – ran into trouble with TrackThatStat, which is no longer appearing on the Installed plugin list, active or otherwise. I would delete it, but can’t find it to do so…

This is coming in the larger context of a 3.3 update hanging. I should also mention that the client for whom I’m doing this has a 14,000+ -name “user” (blog subscriber) database, which I suspect has a large amount of deadwood (no filtering function applied). Could that be part of the problem?

Can anyone tell me how to identify and resolve the problem here? Thanks!

    Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Title tag SEO

I’m having problems writing a title tag that actually works.

WordPress help says that I can “add my metatags” below the line that reads like this:
    <title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?><?php wp_title(); ?></title />

Actually the line looks like this:
    <title><?php wp_title(‘&laquo’, true, ‘right’); ?> <?php bloginfo(‘name’);?></title>

However this doesn’t help me to set the title tag to say what I want it to say. The title tag should read “Green Copywriting” – I have put this in in every way I can imagine, starting with <TITLE>Green Copywriting</TITLE> and when that didn’t work, entering the desired title instead of ‘name’ in the line above, entering it instead of ‘&laquo’, etc. NOTHING worked.

Please tell me what I am supposed to do to make this work.
