Sorry for delay; I thought this was via email and couldn’t remember that I posted it here.
Yes, I tried setting it to cover but there is a gap at the top that varies on different devices. Even if I get it just right for my screen, it will have a gap on other screens.
Where in the settings for the container block’s background do I set the size?
The only option I see in Container > Background > Settings gear, but setting this to the 1980px didn’t work.
Ah so it turns out it is possible to get 8.1. Here’s what I had to do, in case anyone else is in this situation https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/updating-php-crashes-site-mysql-claims-to-be-missing-but-isnt/
TLDR, after I updated to PHP 8.1 I also had to turn OFF mysqli (even though this is the needed thing) and turn ON nd_mysqli. The latter seems like the updated version that is needed for 8.1.
After I did that I was able to use this plugin and it worked like a charm.

In reply to: Hero image (featured image) is displaying thumbnail-size on WindowsThis is resolved. I tried a few things, not sure what did it. In this order:
- Turned off Auto Featured Image (Auto Post Thumbnail) plugin. (yesterday)
- Used Regenerate Thumbnails plugin
- Updated PHP (8.1) and mysqli at web host (probably not related but necessary to do 4).
- Installed Convert to Blocks plugin to convert all posts to Gutenberg blocks.
Now I’d have thought 1&2 is the reason the images are fixed, because of the post linked above that didn’t have the issue. The existence of that post makes me think the issue isn’t due to the theme’s CSS, or why wouldn’t that post have been affected? I suspect that post had a featured image already, and wasn’t affected by the auto featured image plugin. However, I regenerated the images yesterday and they were still blurry as of this morning. Since I don’t think it would take 8+ hours to regenerate 1000 images, that makes it seem that wasn’t the fix. So maybe they just needed to be converted to the block editor? I don’t know but these are something someone can try if they have this issue.

In reply to: Updating PHP crashes site, MySQL claims to be missing but isn’tok well I took your advice and contacted my host again and got this sorted. Figured I’d update for anyone else having this trouble.
When I updated to 8.0, the mysqli plugin was installed (and it was trivial to uncheck and recheck to be sure). However, it turns out there is another box called nd_mysqli.
Turns out you can’t have mysqli and nd_mysqli at the same time. So I unchecked the box for the latter and checked the box for the former and the site came back!
This is not the end of the tale though… for some reason when I had PHP at 8.0, when I would go to nameofmysite.com/phpinfo, it would still show 7.3 rather than 8.0. I was not able to install the needed plugin that requires a newer version. But when I upgraded to 8.2 (and again selected the nd_mysqli) WordPress was able to recognize it and everything is gravy.

In reply to: Updating PHP crashes site, MySQL claims to be missing but isn’tI think you have misread my post.
My issue is not with updating PHP. I was able to upgrade and downgrade PHP no problem. It is just that when I do upgrade it, all of WordPress breaks.
Awesome! That seems to have fixed it. Thank you so much!
Yes, she mentioned she usually browses with Safari on her phone.
What should I do as a fallback for those using Safari, so it will at least still look good for Safari users? She says the image layout/crop looks bad.
I know quite a bit of HTML/CSS but am not always wise about selectors. Is there CSS I could use to specify certain Safari browsers and to tell it if Safari version XYZ, display it the not-fixed/non-parallax, default way?
Thanks so much for your help.
After paying for the premium version of the plugin, the issue re-occurred and it is still crashing my site.
Since I have the premium version I am getting paid support, but I wanted to update here in the spirit of open source, for anyone having this same issue.
After looking at my code, they think the site is crashing due to issues with HTTPS/SSL. They pointed me to this page to help resolve them: https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/debugging-httpsssl-issues/
I was able to get the plugin to stop crashing the staging area by installing Meow Apps database cleaner plugin and deleting all the PMP options files. I’ve reinstalled it in staging and all seems to be working. I also reinstalled the pods plugin, but I can’t find the other one I had installed, that allows memberships to expire.
However the issue happened with PMMPro on, regardless of the plugin.
I created a new staging and this time it was replicated.
I’ve deleted all the other plugins and switched to a default theme to simplify. I also flushed permalinks again just in case. Also cleared the cookies for the site as the browser suggested. No idea what to try next though.
Broken staging area is here:
https://www.cwc-berkeley.org/pmp-error-test/OK I figured out how to flush the permalinks (much easier than I expected, just needed to resave the permalinks page).
However I am still getting an error:
This page isn’t workingcwc-berkeley.org redirected you too many times.
Try clearing your cookies.
ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTSInteresting that this is a slightly different error than I received before…progress? Or maybe I was just on a different browser before.
Does this issue happen for every page on your site or only some when Paid Memberships Pro is activated?
Yes, on every page. I opened five just now.
Did you see my theory about potential conflicts with other previous membership plugin data? However, those plugins are all disabled (though not deleted) I suppose it’s possible they could have left behind data.

In reply to: [Gosign - Background Container Block] Diagonal slant not showingAny update on this? I recently wanted to try another of your plugins (the one for backgrounds). I ran into some technical difficulties (the parallax background layer that should have been on bottom was on top) which I would gladly have reported to you but it seems you do not read your support posts. =[

In reply to: [Link Library] Can links be filtered or added to multiple pages at once?Thank you for getting back to me.
Do you have some idea of how you want the information to be presented?
This was all inspired by working on resource pages for their new site based on pages like this one that have so many links they are overwhelming, and where there are a lot of links that would appear on multiple pages.
I am envisioning something like a list of of tags that are also buttons (links) the user could use to narrow an overwhelming list down to a smaller list. I can use Gutenberg to make them pretty. Adding thumbnails or screenshots would just be more clutter. It’s the filtering I need.
I am also thinking of just a regular display of links, but where the client only has to add them once on the backend and they then show up on multiple pages that are coded to display only that category.
Unfortunately I think the team already paid for a different product or I would recommend yours (I posted in their support as well and they asked me to make a pro ticket, which I would understand if this wasn’t a sales question =P). I will definitely be getting yours if the one they chose doesn’t work out.

In reply to: [Simple Link Directory] So there is no way to filter links? This is a sales question. I don’t know yet whether they purchased the Pro version or not. Do you have a different contact for sales questions? Surely there is somewhere I can ask a basic sales question, to determine whether we should purchase the pro version?

In reply to: [Gosign - Background Container Block] Diagonal slant not showingOK I played around with it a bit more to troubleshoot.
I added the feature to a post. I found several things:
* the diagonal feature works when slanting from right to left, but does not display at all when slanting from left to right (regardless of whether it is the top or bottom).
* Even when the margins and padding were set to zero, there is still a line above the diagonal that is not included in it, such that there’s a small border at the top of the diagonal, which is really the image showing through underneath.
* There was also a slight one-pixel border on the left even when margins were set to zero.
* I’m not sure what the defaults are meant to be, but I am surprised that the default width is 50%. Shouldn’t it be full-width?
* Perhaps related, when I set the margins and padding to custom, it won’t let me reduce the numbers lower than 10 pixels. And when I tried, it reverted my entire theme back to the defaults! All the colors suddenly changed back from the new global settings to what had come with the theme. So I take it that is a bug. It seems this only affected the global style settings because the structural change I had made to the template header persists.
