Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Any tangable benefit of Social Bookmarking links? That is what I was thinking. I see “Share This”, Social Plugin, and others having so many sites to chose from, and majority of them I have never heard of.
Having exposure is good and I agree, quality targeted content would drive the populariy of the site (and yes SEO optimized, but this is not the topic of discussion). However, I was wondering if others notice usuage from those services.
If I publish the plugin, i would make it configurable for those who like to over do it, however for my personal use, I am trying to figure out the value of these sites.

In reply to: 2.7 New admin interfaceThese are minor things that can be quickly fixed with a plugin, modifying the css, or in later minor releases.
I would definitely rather have an early release than see admin page redone.

In reply to: Threaded Comments Plugins and 2.7What many do not realize, threaded comments is an excellent base for a forum like page.
Create a new page, with empty content or introduction to the forum. Enable comments on the page.
Create a plugin, or modify the theme to display the comments in a forum style by displaying only the parent comments (comments where parent is null).
When the user clicks on the comment title, you refresh with the commentid as a paramter and only render comments under this commentid (include commentid as the main topic).
This will be a beautiful feature! with some creativity, you can create multiple sections/areas.

In reply to: Who gets credit for post if pinging is automatic? That is why I am thinking of either making the pings manual or have a plugin schedule the pings on an X days delay so google index my site first.

In reply to: Who gets credit for post if pinging is automatic?Yes it currently does. I am debating changing that, or moving to delayed pinging.
I am wondering if it is worth the change though.

In reply to: Sorting by post_date returns last revision dateProblem turned out to be in the MySQL. Had to modify WordPress to get it to work.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Sorting by post_date returns last revision dateYou know… I debugged the code and looks like the resulting query is ignoring the resulting order by and is ordering by the ID. I ran the same resulting query in MYSQL and sure enough… results are ordered by ID even though it contains order by clause

In reply to: The version 2.6 will not work! Dont install!Thats good to hear.
Is there a change list somewhere?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: The version 2.6 will not work! Dont install!I don’t get it… was the new release not tested before releasing it to the public?
Where can I find a list of the changes to see if it is worth upgrading or waiting a month or two till the kinks and plugins are fixed?
