In reply to: [Autoptimize] Cache folder getting big over timebtw in the .htaccess I noticed that we have
Header set Cache-Control "max-age=10672000, must-revalidate"
if that means a AO creates a new file every 3 hours (if that’s milliseconds), if I increase the size of that file, wouldn’t create less often new cached files?
I noticed my cached files in the cache/autoptimize/js seem to be created at more or less 3 hours intervals….
thanks

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Some 404shi Frank, I have just tested it and tried a direct hit from Google Cache and I get:
410 Gone The requested resource /wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_xxxxxxxx2595f84404.js is no longer available on this server and there is no forwarding address. Please remove all references to this resource.
so seems to be working ??
I did what you suggested and modded the .htaccess and the autoptimizeCache.php – there’s 2 instances there, right? it says write this code in the .htaccess ELSE write this code, etc.. so needs to be repeated twice, correct?
@davidroccato, is not hard at all, I suggest you to make a backup of the autoptimizeCache.php and the other .htaccess in the wp-content/cache/autoptimize/.htaccess folder.

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Some 404sHi there
I know .htaccess tho u dont say if its the root’s .htaccess or the wpcontent cache’s.. i think the root’s right??
That code requires manual input…..which would require going to check in the log for which .js are now 404s over time i guess…I have different .js files coming up as 404…..i was under the impression that there was a way for this to be dynamic and automatic?
Also i am thinking if google bot and company cannot crawl those .js from autoptimize, since they are -gone- a part from the 404, what is the loss in terms of functionality for the search engine? I mean would that hurt seo in your opinion? I work in seo but i am not great at javascript :).
I was reading an article the other day that gbot now understands more javascript > https://searchengineland.com/tested-googlebot-crawls-javascript-heres-learned-220157 so perhaps something we should be aware of moving forward.
Many thanks

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Some 404shi Frank, sorry to write you again, can you share with me in PM (if there is here lol) how to enable the 410-gone solution?
thanks,

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Some 404shi Frank,
I think the 410 gone solution is a good approach, is that difficult to do?
thanks,
Gabhi – I just received an official answer from BWT support
“Our sitemap fetching has limited capacities and the system may not schedule an immediate recrawl when sitemap changes as we cannot detect those changes. Relatively long refresh interval is expected but we expect to improve this in the next one or two months”
Having said that, I noticed that they are 1-2 days behind when you update a post, so it will update, just a bit slow ?…which is NOT that bad after all. What was surprisingly fast was “Submit URL” from BWT, I got a post indexed the same day.
I did mod the plugin to https://www.bing.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.example.com/sitemap.xml so I will leave it for now.
great, thanks a lot!
it seems that now Bing has refreshed its sitemap but he takes it easy (after some XX days, even if you add posts but there’s some automation going) and I have to say if you are in a hurry and push an URL with “Submit URLs” in Bing, it’s really FAST (same day). faster than Google with “fetch as”.
I wrote a message to Bing support about this and they are investigating it anyway.

Hi
Ive edited the plugin file so it pushes to https://www.bing.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.example.com/sitemap.xml but didnt see any difference, bing still does not update sitemap when i published a new post.
Anyone??
Thanks

In reply to: [WP Social Meta] WP Social Meta section missing on blog-posts?ok it’s official I am going to delete this plugin, I noticed that with the plugin turned on then I cannot attach images to my posts or pages, disabled it, works bye bye.. too bad since it was a decent plugin, if only the author would fix it properly.

In reply to: [WP Social Meta] WP Social Meta section missing on blog-posts?hi Nicky,
hmhmm that sounds a bit different than mine, sounds like you put the data from the admin, but that is not reflected on the live site, have you cleared your cache if you have any?
for me, pages work OK both from admin and on the live site, but I don’t get the WP Social Meta section at all on posts-admin and on the live site the tags are empty (which makes sense as I cannot input from the admin). are you getting the WP Social Meta section on the posts (blog) from the admin at all?
have you selected under Settings > Reading Settings what is your main Static page?
best,
Gabrioanyone??

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Just installed Autoptimize, quick question :)thanks Frank, i tried the inline option and score went from 90 to 81 on desktop and from 71 to 67 on mobile, so it didnt really help.
inlining&deferring seems complicated and i don’t want to try that for now.
thanks, i have added that compression for my .htaccess but it doesn’t make any difference, i still get those .js files flagged.. i get compression working OK with https://www.feedthebot.com/tools/gzip/ anyway.
i got it now mobile 77 and desktop 90. never got it so good anyway!
thanks anyway!
