I am closing this thread. Not because the problem was resolved. I need to re-clarify the situation.

Serge: I don’t know if the server we have has ImageMagick running as a service or not. We have the ImageMagick plugin installed as a plugin. So maybe both. I have no idea. Regardless, it seems to do the job. Upload or Import a PDF and the first page magically is used as the poster image.

Just want to give an update about the ImageMagick part of my comment. It works now.

However, all the PDF poster image files are missing (other than the newest ones just created by ImageMagick during the up0load process).

I should have seen that. I guess I missed the meaning of breadcrumb. I get it now. Does just what I want. Thanks!

This is about missing “poster image files”.

I think this would be a very good enhancement if you decide to do it.

Thanks Jacob. I suspected that was the problem. I have made the changes in the config tables and it works fine. I may have a feature request that I will make in another post regarding this.

Not really sure what these settings do. But I tried changing a few in the lasten widget settings but didn’t really notice any difference in the display.

The Flin Flon Heritage Project uses this plugin and agrees with your assessment.

Our project deals with a huge number of photos. Our solution is to FTP the photos to the relevant WPA Depot and them use the Import function to import them. It will usually time out if there is a huge amount of data in the depot. No problem. Just run the import until the all the files have been transferred. Maybe this will work for you as well.
