Why don’t you try a better alternative to the plugin? wp gift cert is no longer supported.
The best option is wp gift certificate reloaded modular. here are many options to choose, and it can handle payment through Authorize.net payment gateway.

As far as sidebar, you can place the shortcode in a text widget. But note, that your theme must support this.

I hope this gets done very soon ?? I’m in great need for this feature.

There is the “Add Certificate” option in the plugin backend. This will enable you as admin to manually create a certificate offline, where you can email it (manually) the link to the intended person. You can view this method as “offline sales”.
I will mark this as solved since the issue is fixed.
