Hello Bangbay,
and thank you for getting back to me so quickly, and for making sense too! :o)
I’ll go and see whether I can fathom it.
Thank you me dear, have a great weekend!

In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] exploitable XSS issuesCould we dispense with the testosterone attacks and please get the facts out?
@edededededededed Thank you for posting your warning, thanks to you I have deactivated the plugin which, though very nice, I have to say, you say could expose my site to attack.
@justinfyi Whatever Edededededededed may have posted, all you needed to do is politely point out that the Vendor had issued an update that addressed the vulnerability.
@edededededededed Perhaps your response could have been put less aggressively, however, I do agree that the post did create a false impression, that version 1.8.2 of the plugin is now ‘safe’.
At the end of all that, I am still uncertain as to whether The Seed have addressed the issue; should this not be reported to the WordPress folk? Is there a workaround?
Anyway, here’s wishing you both a very Happy and Chilled New Year!

In reply to: [WordPress Font Size] DeadJust installed wpTextResize and it worked first time.
WP is an example of modern symbiosis: the theme supports us, we support the theme’s author. If only everything else could be that simple, huh? You’re welcome mate!

In reply to: WP 3.3 Install failed HELP!Hello Steve,
perhaps you could report it in Bugs? I am not in a position to explain or fathom what was wrong, but it sounds as though you do… so perhaps reporting it will fix it in the next update.
Thanks for taking the time to post, though.
Have a great holiday!

In reply to: WP 3.3 Install failed HELP!Done all that… and got a blank page, but when I went to the wp-admin page, I found a lovely little notice waiting for me, telling me the database would need to be updated, clicked on the button and … voila’! MAGIC! My site was back! (does little dance).
Reactivated all the plugins and my site’s more or less back.
Thank you, thank you thank you Esmi, you’re the best!
Where do I donate? ??
big hugs
best of the Best

In reply to: WP 3.3 Install failed HELP!While Filezilla uploads the two directories (except wp-content, as you said) may I ask whether I can run upgrade.php from cPanel’s File Manager, and how?
Thanks again (biting the last of my nails)

In reply to: WP 3.3 Install failed HELP!Cannot log in, tried fix:
renaming plugins directory
creating new “plugins” directory
still cannot log in to dashboard – though I can see my websiteMany thanks for taking the time to reply Fred, I would add that mine is not empty praise, it is definitely well deserved.
You must forgive me, I am a bear of small brains, and eventually I managed to fathom the fact that I could use the ‘displayresults’ function to hide them from users on the response page and, instead, display them on a separate, private page.
Very best wishes and kind regards.

Right, I managed to get back in by moving the directories containing:
- BuddyPress
- Buddy Press Private Community
- BuddyPress Privacy Component (BP Privacy, BP_Authz, or BPAz)
to a temp dir, which disabled the plugins.
I got back in, but when I tried to reinstate them all, one by one, found that, with Buddy Press Private Community disabled at least I can go back to my WP login page and get back in.
With it enabled, I just go ’round in circles to the same message page from FF:
The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.I need privacy for the forums, they are for the Trustees of a small charity’s management committee, so they can hold meetings online.
Any ideas what’s going on and how I can sort this out?
Many thanks for your time.

Thank you also Govpatel!
I will check the whole system’s CHMODs again.
I think I know what went wrong with WP (and it’s too dumb to credit it… I forgot to change the path of the Media Upload page, in Settings and yes, I am blushing furiously!)
The problem with the .htaccess not being writeable persists though, and I can;t seem to get the permalink update to write to it.
Ho Hum.
Thank you for your time.
I am a daft, daft, DAFT old bint!
??
Many thanks Jonas,
I went and checked and I had restored the original CHMOD, but when I tried once again to save the Permalink, to get it to update to the new directory, it still tells me that .htaccess is not writeable.
Ho Hum!
Bit of a mystery, I guess.Thank you anyway.
Cheers.
