Sorry, I had added it to the global Custom CSS first.

Thanks for the suggestion! I added this to my Custom CSS, tried different values, but the width of the Simply Gallery block did not change. My goal is to make the gallery block a little less wide than 100% of the parent container. I managed to do this with the Envira Galleries I used before Simply Gallery with Custom CSS code.

Thanks for your tips! It seems that the Polylang Pro plugin was the culprit. After de- and reactivating it, the site works fine again…

The question about the possible parameters is a more general one, since I can’t find the ressources for that. For example, if I want to know more about a Linux command, I can easiily look up the according manpage. Is there something similar for CSS?
